Talking samplers

"You don't here any new techniques regarding sampling...."

New techniques are being developed all the time, just not being discussed.
I haven't had the need for anything more than what the 2500 can do. I still use JJ OS1 only because it works. There are things I would like to see added, like a more convincing bit reduction feature, but the basic necessities seem to get the job done. I've tried using software samples..some had really nice options but lacked one main feature: the ability to sample!!! Then, I've used some samplers that can do what you need, but the interface was terrible (Logic ..and we've all tried the vintage samplers. No matter how much people want to rave about them, there ain't nothing cool with spending $1200 for 256K of Ram, no matter how crunchy or warm it effects the samples.
I would like to see a sampler that can edit sounds just like a synth. Instead of twiddling knobs to create something, save a sample and allow the 'synpler' (I just made that up haha) to analyze the sound to create its own version; ttweak this to come up with something new! Unlimited time-stretching with no artifacts..pitching samples with no chipmunking. Who knows, maybe its already out there. I wouldn't know. I just make the beats.

And I almost forgot the Roland VP-9000 VariPhrase Processor. Guess what happened to that one.

But the technology of those products are in Roland's more successful and flagship gear..such as the G Synth, MV sampers, and Fantom workstations....

They dont have regular synth parameters plus they are not easy to edit like standard (synth) samplers.V-synth isthe way to go in this case.Would love one meself.

haven't they been doing this since the early 80's?
my eps has the same features as my juno, not to mention many features way deeper than any synth. (edit: eps doesn't do resonance...if you want to get techincal)
almost any rack sampler has your standard volume / filter adsr. chunk in a single cycle sawtooth waveform and you've got a subtractive synth. this is basically what samplers were originally designed as - synths with user-modifiable waveforms.

are not what's being discussed. Everybody knows every sampler has those parameters, so it stands to reason that no one would be requesting them.

The VP 9000 was way too expensive when it came out (over $2000-$3000). And it only had 6 voices. While the technology was great, to pay that amout of money for something you wouldn't necessarily use all the time wasn't worth it. When Roland discontinued it and started adding Variphrase technology to its other products, the second hand price of the VP dropped to a few hundred bucks. That is when I picked one up. But it wasn't as intuitive as the video shows so I resold it.

I feel the YAMAHA A5000 does not get the respect it deserves.For its time it does things even DAWS

I know nothing about Yamaha samplers, nobody ever owns up to owning one or talks about them.
