akai freezing among other problems...

problems:
-pops and cracks during sampling. sometimes i must wiggle the REC INs to make it stop.
-akai freezes during sampling (mostly when i press STOP)
-akai freezes when i trim a sample

thses problems occur radomly not all the time. mostly 2-3 hours in. ive replaced my old ram yesterday (after waiting a month for "new" ram...thanks ebay) and these problems are still happening. as soon as i replaced the ram i did ram check and everything seemed fine. i think its about time to get another MPC or just switching it up to something completely new, however, im wondering anyone whos experience these problems knows of something i can do to fix. should i update the OS? im thinking my sampler is just bit the dust, but does that make any sense? im at a loss and i pretty much i dont even want to look at my akai right now... losing my beats is just getting so old...

this is a long shot and after reading ur post this probally wont solve ur prob but i know my mpc freezes if i have my midi sync out set to somthin and on the other end theres nothing goin on or the device / computer is off.... it get confused and freezes

hope some ones got a better explantion

i know mpc stuff . com sells a main mother board fairly cheap comparatively to buyin a new mp

That could be just bad cables. Trying using a new pair of either 1/4 TRS or RCA's. That should fix the problem.



Its possible you might have accidentally moved something around when installing the CF card reader.
I doubt the RAM was the problem though, I'm guessing that might be the mother board as well. Try looking at the inside of your machine see if anything is moved.

maybe the OS file is corrupted
try to download it from the web and re-install it from scratch

yeah so i opened it up and checked everything. swapped out all the cables i was using yesterday and has been running for about an hour with no problems. im going to re-install the OS tonight. im working at grandma speed..., but im pretty sure it will at any given random time. its like making beats while skating on thin ice. ive been thinking about getting a replacement mother board or just another mpc, but for the price ill probably just find a newer sampler i.e. sp-303, sp-404 or something of the like. then use my akai as a dedicated sequencer because i do use it for live performances regularly. that could be the problem too - travel/cartage might be pushing stuff around in there. any thanks for the input guys and ill reply back with my results....
