i dont see how this would defeat the purpose of diggin , this would help you out more , because it tells you what to look for and the artist and label
if you dont want to use those beats then dont buy them, but if you know any thing about diggin you use these as tools, you still have to go out and find it thats the diggin part of it, and now you know what your looking for, you dont have to find the same record , search for other records by this artist.

They Don't need to Label which Artist used what ........Especially since
once you hear it you will easily figure it out for yourself unless you are a
total Idiot .....And also the Artist may have not cleared it yet ...Does anybody feel me on this one...........????????

dusty fingers is sampling for dummies. tells you what to look for??? read the credits on your jazz LPs, man. see what label dropped the album. see what artists playing what instruments were featured. check who produced the album. thats how i got put on to everything i know and im not a lightweight when it comes to jazz music or digging. it aint about being purist its about not being lazy and a toy when it comes to digging. its a hell of a lot more rewarding to find the LP that he jacked the break from for his comp, then to just buy a dusty fingers album. maybe im crazy

I wouldn't exactly call it sampling for dummies....I would call it Laziness.....or some DJ's will call it "purifing" their collection..so now they don't have to bring their valuable vinyl on the road......I can only not respect the fact is that some of the ppl who advertise these compilations do a lot of snitching and getting someone's attention!

My take on the series is that it pointed towards the European and World fusion funk jazz artists more. Therefore a better way it to go way off the beaten path for material maybe Russian or South African funk outfits. The French and African fusion shit was so hip.

I could care less who use it because I know it when I heard and I don`t want or need anyone snitching in public who used it. That is what changed the switched up the game. But I loved being introduced to good music. Like when you go to your boys place my case my uncle (a former dj back in the days) and checking out all his records because they don`t play the good shit on the radio. Learning artists, vibe of the times, and the colorful labels. I also use that as a guiding point in my own diggin. In the past records labels were vivid as the artist wanted a visual image of their music you could see the only on the back or the inslde jacket. Now its the artist`s face or body everywhere like some kind of pen up guy or gal half dress aimed at teens as a sexual object. The artist vibe, spirit, and most important musical message isn`t pronounced.

Dusty Fingers is a good introduction to digging IMO. Gives a beginner a good start on what to use and look for.

i got many from many different labels
i love scratch fx and cuts

i am actually chopping something off a dusty fingers record now. i was using it a few years ago when i first started digging, but could never get the chops right, now that i re-visited it, im finally getting the feel for the chops down on that one.

i think they're a great place to start digging and expose people to new artists.

i could have bought the OG sample too, but it was like 80 bucks for that record. ill just take the dusty fingers version. although it would be dope to have the original.

i would rather not use them if i could, but sometimes the sample is too dope to pass up and i dont have any new samples at the moment, so if it sounds good, ill use it.

although like someone said i do feel kinda cheesy using them as a go to source for samples.
