timecode -> mpc -> clock output to korg esx problem

hey people i have a problem, i use a DAW as timecode master and want my mpc 1000 to generate a clock synced to that... works fine but my korg esx for example just wont start right, it always starts from where it was stopped or whatever, tempo is fine but its just not on the grid... if anyone could try this and give me his experience would be so cool, it makes me mad... i also experimented with machine control, no luck... i think the bug must be in the korg, because my jomox xbase works fine with that...

If your DAW is generating the timecode (midi or SMPTE) then it is set as MASTER.

All other devices must be slaved to the DAW, that includes your MPC and Korg ESX.

You cannot have two devices in control of timekeeping for obvious reasons hence the term 'MASTER'.

a midi Start message should make the ESX restart from the beginning of its pattern, but I'm not at home to check

strange that the thread moved... maybe its jjos specific sure the daw is midi-timecode master and the mpc timecode slave and clock-master

i don't get you, what is the problem with that, i can use whatever i want as clock master if its synced to timecode no? the thing is it just works perfectly but not for the esx... all i want to try to get out with this post if the bug is in jjos or in the esx. ill try it with a mpc2500 and akai-os to compare soon, also i know that the esx starts later anyway so somehow it seems to miss the midi-start :/

What I meant is that you shouldn't have two devices acting as MASTER in a sync setup.

One device is chosen to be the MASTER and all the other devices are SLAVED to sync signals from that device.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a MPC with JJOS could operate as a MTC slave and a midi clock master, or vice versa, simultaneously.

Loop, you may have to reset the sequence in both the DAW and MPC, or all three machines for this to work right.
