TRACKING OUT OF MPC !!!

whats good yall. just wanna know if theres an easier way to track out of my mpc 2500 into pro tools, without going one by one thru the main out. shit is dring me crazy. i heard with the 5000, it can track out 6 tracks at the same time. just wanna if theres just an easier way!!

2500 has 8 assignable outs and stereo outs as well. What interface are you using? If it has 8 ins, just get a 8 channel snake, done.

unfortunately i have an mbox....what do you think i can get that can handle the extra outs?

any soundcard that has 8 inputs.

Like tapedeck mentioned, you'll need an interface with 8 ins, such as the 003 or something with similar i/o.

ok...so once i get the soundcard, it can go directly into the mbox?

i have a mbox 2..im thinking of getting a rack..wanna start recording at 96k.

no.
your mbox is an interface.
your mbox is insufficient.
we are saying get another interface and forget about your mbox.

ps. you can make it work with your mbox and cut your work in half if you pan one sound full left, and another full right, and record a stereo track.

now, you have just recorded 2 separate tracks. yes you would have to do this 4 times to get 8 tracks, but that is still cutting your time in half and half is huge.

Assuming you stick with Pro Tools which you are already familiar with the logical thing to do is upgrade to a Digi 002 or Digi 003 which both have 8 analogue inputs.

The latest version of Pro Tools allows the use of third party interfaces which gives you greater choice.

Copping a used Digi 002 is probably the cheapest option available if you don't have the latest version of Pro Tools.

A couple of options.

Track 2 channels at a time in your mBox. Not ideal but a cost-free solution.

Get the interface Lampdog linked to. It has 6 analogue inputs as far as I can tell (2 on the front which can be set to line level and 6 at the back). You can then use that as your master device (interface) and slave your MBox with its 2 inputs via S/PDIF to get you up to 8 inputs.

However, the Fireface isn't *cheap* (though very good value for money). You may be better off, as other suggested, getting an 002. Personally, I loathe them...

Yes, that's what I meant - 6 at the back and 2 out front.

(2 on the front which can be set to line level and 6 at the back)

Actually, you'd want to record to two separate mono tracks, not a stereo track!

Anyway, currently you can do up to 4 mono sounds simultaneously with your Mbox. You can do one out of the stereo left, one out of stereo right, one out of s/pdif left, and one out of s/pdif right. So for example, that'll let you record a hat, snare, kick, and shaker all to 4 separate mono tracks at the same time. Obviously with your samples though, if they are stereo you can only do two at a time; one out the stereo pair, and one out the s/pdif.
