I just need your opinions on what is a reasonable Price, for two types of faceplates. one? to make a faceplate with nothing on it for XL users to custom paint and label it them selfs. two? - to paint and label them ready for
users. And please your honest opinions. Personally if the cost is more than
what I think ,I wouldn't pay. Then it might not happen. But I thought I would
get more opinions before putting up some money to make this happen.

We know www.forat.com charges $800.00 and up w/additional charges for
extras, I can't see paying 5 or even 3 hun,for custom job, maybe 2 something ,but that's my honest opinion. Let me know something fella's.
so I can decide if this would be a good investment for me and other XL
user's. T

I've seen your setup for the screens you're doin' and it looks descent.Forat charges way too much and i think you got a good thing goin'.I think for blank faceplates about 50-60.For labeled 100 would be tight.Noone here is really rollin' in doe, that's why alot of cats don't go through Forat.Keep it simple and build your rep first. That's just my opinion though.

i think your power move has got be, showin' some finished product. not just of the potential, screen, and the rest but showin' some results is going to utlimately say the most to any potential customer.

>i'm not sayin' in anyway that your not legit, and/or no what your talkin about but to draw in business you've gotta have a model.<

i think what your doin' is great but i have to admitt until i see the result, i'm skeptical. screening to metal is very difficult and getting small fonts to not bleed, not be to light and ultimately transfer properly is the real test. i screened for 3 years back in the day, and my buddy now who has a screen lab said, "making it look professional with that much little detail (letters & numbers) will require a really high mesh count...230 or 250 and then your still not promised anything." it possible and your totally going the right direction but i'd like to see some results of your screening process.

i've been thinking about doing my own customization as well but i not only to have the proper lettering and numeric values to be screen in, i'd like to do the paint and logos as well. this even with the most skilled screener and artist, takes a lot of time. (or maybe i'm just lazy!) eventually, i'm gonna just step up and do it. i probably photoshop ideas out for awhile though.

good luck DJ-T.

btw, for a real deal custom job, paint and screened info, i'd take no less the 350.00, there a lot of time, paint, shipping, materials, all kinds of factors. don't sell yourself short. make it as professional as you can but don't waste your time.

you could sell different packages DJ-T:

1. screen with Akai data and a printed set of detailed instructions/anticipated cost and such
2.custom paint, screened w/ finished Akai data, person pays is responsible for design, color, logos...the whole-9. then the customer is responsible for the way the final product looks thus also freeing you up w/ detailing with the inevitable whinners. you just paint, screen and bam. they don't like, then they should have went to design school. (clownin')
3.lastly, i'd just setup a set of generic colors (reds, blues, black, smoke-gray, ...you get the point), then have a template that allows you to add the Akai data, and then you could have a 'spot' for 'a' logo/personalization.

>if you need some help or want to shell out some of your ideas and the pros & cons, email me: [email protected]

peace

I think 200 is reasonable for a greatlooking faceplate. A lot of it will depend on the design, and how hot it will look when finished.

I screenprinted for a while and i had this special ink for vinyl that was made of two components. I printed a bunch of stickers with it and put one on my friends carwindow. Even though the windscreenwiper has been rubbing it for years, the ink is still good. I forgot what brand is was, but i can look it up for you if you're interested.

that's what ,I was looking for.believe me, this has been a two year ordeal
getting someone who wanted to do the engineer work, but yeah your right
as for as Prices , I'm looking at selling painted faceplates $250-$350,and
the none painted ones $160-$180 . materials and labor work is pretty high
for faceplate setup. Also here's another question at ya.
should I put it up on my site www.gospelraptrax.50megs.com or do the ebay thing . I'm a member of ebay and paypal. respond? T :) :) :)

instead of screening the print, couldnt you just use die-cut stickers? all you have to do is paint the face, put on the die cut letters, and go over all that with a clear coat. that way the letters would never come off. not sure if that would work but i dont see why it wouldnt.

It would probably be best to put it on your site.Alot of people use ebay but if you meet a mpc head wouldn't you rather say "yo,check out my site." Rather than "Got to ebay and look under mpc."The first is more professional and that's what people look for but,you already know that. You got it right on the prices if that includes shipping to and fro. You're definitely on the right track though.Good luck b.

jorge guzman wrote:would we have to send you our own faceplates for u to customize or is that included in the price and u send ur own???

you can either buy what we design or buy the faceplate with nothing on it,
and do it your self. keep in mind, I'm not trying to spend alot of money to
where I don't make anything, and my family starve, like ma man said ,keep
it simple, you make something to complex, then how will you understand.

PS. S&H is not included in the price,so you would have to at least add $20-30 dollars w/ insurance covering damages, lost etc. you can check UPS,FedX they only cover certain items up to $100. it cost thirty cents more for that and depends on where it's being shipped to,I've already checked ,and got some rates,so shipping and handling depends, or we can just do C.O.D .

Keep the responds coming. Until    T
