Hey guys,

I thought you might be interested to know that I did the theme music and cut ins and outs for the show on my MPC 1000 while in Brazil with my girlfriend ;)

Enjoy the show.

Hey Disco D,
Nice to hear your putting that box to work and very nice to hear a positive email about banging out some professional work on the 1000. I'm guilty of bashing this unit because you couldn't adjust the midi volume by track, but it is a cool package where you can pop a flashcard in and take it wherever you want to make beats...
Is there a link to your VHI theme anywhere so I can check it out?
Easy

I don't have a link to the final picture yet, but as soon as we get it it will be up at www.expansionteam.org which is the company that subcontracted me to do the music.

elmacao, I don't know another Disco D - if you mean the ghettotech DJ turned hip hop producer yea thats me ;)

I've only had my 1000 for 2 months. I've been in a serious serious relationship with a woman in Brazil, so I had to put together a portable setup. In addition to the VH1 job when I was down there I did a remix for Afrika Bambaata's new album - a track called "Just A Smoke" - this was also done entirely in the 1000 (apart from flying the vocals in on Pro Tools). I've also done a couple of BANGERS on it but nothing that's sold just yet. In my NYC studio I have an MPC 4000, which I love also, but to be honest sometimes even being back here now I'm turning to the 1000 because my mantra of production is "Less Is More", and the MPC 1000 personifies that (to address your point of bashing Dahkter - if the track is hot who gives a fukk about MIDI volume? The only thing that sorta bothered me was the sample dropping which now seems to have gone away).

In terms of other work, I've only really been in the urban music game strong for about a year - before that I was (and still am) really known for an underground style of dance music known as Ghettotech - I put out a mix CD on Tommy Boy last year, that's probably the best reference point for that. As for the urban shiit, I co-produced 5 tracks on the Nina Sky album with Cipha Sounds, have done remixes for Pharrell, 8 Ball and MJG, B.G., Da Brat and Miss Thing, and also music (and sound design) for Sprite, XBox, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and Nike. I also produced a track for this new R&B chick named Tiearra from Detroit (they are probably going to change her name due to Ciara, not sure to what) that got her signed to Def Jam and is supposidely going on the Fat Albert soundtrack, and right now I'm working with this new cat from ATL named Cato who is SICK and is about to land a deal - we've done 5 cuts together so far, all of which are VERY unique to what is coming out of the South right now. I got some other stuff out in the air which is big but not solid enough to want to talk about, you know how that goes ;)
