Hi there,

Earlier today I bought a zed 24 mixer and so far I really like it.
Up until now I´ve been mixin all my beats in my mpc2500, and recorded them through the stereo out to a boss digital recorder. I realized earlier today that none of the effects in the mpc work when I use the 8 outs from the sampler to the mixer. I want to buy a decent rack-compressor and a reverb that i could link up to the mixer eventually. But for now I´ve been trying to link up the mixer with the computer through the usb connection to possibly use some vst¨s. Is there any way of doing this so I could just run the signal through the computer and back to the mixer without recording anything in the daw. So far I´ve only managed to apply effects if I record channel by channel to the computer. Cause I would like to do most of the work on the mpc and the mixer and probably just record the stereomix to the daw when I´m finished. I just don´t cope very well with computers when I´m making music.
I´m sorry if this has been covered before.

Any help would be much appreciated

What mpc do you have? No one can give you advice if you don't detail every little thing your doing, what you have and what you have tried already, etc.

Okay I´ll try to be more precise. I wrote above that I have the mpc2500. I´m running it with jjos1.48. However, I´m pretty sure it´s a problem with me not fully understanding how to use the mixer (allen & heath zed24) with the daw. I did the research about the effects in the mpc not working when I use my 8 outs on the mpc, but I`m not trying to use any of those effects. What I want to do, is run the signal from the mixer to the computer and back as I´m playing the beat on my mpc that´s connected through the 8-outs with the mixer then to the computer with the usb of the mixer, and then adjust the levels of the compressor etc with the aux knobs for each channel on the mixer. I´m pretty useless with computers, but I`m hoping this could work in one way or another. The problem is that I don´t really know where to start at all. I´m running reaper v.3.103 on the computer. and the mixer is only connected through the usb, no interface. There´s 4 aux busses on the mixer, and I should be able to use them for effects through the USB connection. If I record some stuff from the mpc to reaper and playback, I get audio signal back from the computer to one of the stereo channels on the mixer. So I could apply effects in the actual program when there´s a recorded track in there. But is there any way of ONLY sending the effects back to the mixer and adjust the levels channel by channel. Sort of using the daw the same way as I would with a rack compresssor. It would be awesome if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction, cause I feel like I´m a bit stuck right now.

Thanks/

Maybe I'm wrong but are you looking to the mpc to have a return? It doesn't?
I think I'm reading into that wrong though.

nah the issue is not with the mpc... I want to use the 8 outs to be able to mix down and add effects in the mixer, then I would either record the beat through the stereo out on the mixer to the daw or to my 8track recorder. I won't send any signals back to the mpc. Just would like to add effects and compressor to some channels at some point before I record the beats. Basically wanna spend as little time as possible or avoid to mix in the computer.

if you can't sort it out, then an option is to resample your beats with the mpc effects.

yea I'll work something out, thanks for the advice, that would work if I can't get a smooth running setup with the daw

Hi again,

I have another question regarding my new setup. I thought I'd post it here so I'm not clogging up the first page with my threads.
The zed 24 is a usb interface, so I can record straight from the mixer to the computer via the usb. Soundwise, would it be better to buy a decent interface/soundcard and go analog from the mixer and through the interface to the computer?? The computer I'm using at the moment just has the standard soundcard any HP-laptop comes with.

I worked out how to use the usb connection to apply effects in the mixer now, so not in need of help anymore.
