Burial's beats

Of course Cozster, but as you say never hurts posting up again. I have to say I much prefer Lambeth too, the bassline is naughty. Unite is good but it doesn't quite have that syncopation that really gets me karate chopping the air. Interesting that you mention it's the first he's made in a DAW Coz, how did you find that out?

I've probably posted this somewhere in the thread, but balls to it... One of the best drum loops I've ever heard, not even over-exagerating either. The tone of the hits used, the programming, it's f*cking perfect.

I read it online a while back and I guess it stuck because I like the tune so much. It could be another urban myth though...

Four Tet mentioned in an interview that he (FT) uses Audiomulch, records all his samples with a crappy headset mic and listens to everything on an old boombox (which he knows so well he can use for mixing).

If I was a famous artist like either of em, I'd be telling interviewers all sorts of fantasies about my production techniques so personally I take the soundforge thing with a large grain of salt. Might be true, I dunno. Certainly won't keep me awake at night.

might already have said it, but you can easily get a similar organic feel to your drums making your beats right on the audio lane in a program like Cubase, no snap to grid and then just drop your drums.. you might find it a bit challenging without something to follow, so you could use other pattenrs as a visual template to follow.. like drumloops and breaks and put them on a muted channel.. usually you can see on the waveform wether it is a snare or a kick etc, and then you just place your sounds after that to make the kind of pattern that you want... find a good zoom level that works well for you when you quickly drop your hits.. the idea is to use the template as something to aim at but not to follow strictly.. so when you have a fitting zoom level, and you aim and drop a sound, it will most likely not be perfect but still not too sloppy to kill a groove.. its easy and pretty fast to do too

i do it all the time, but i mix it up with my mpc beats, so i have to be a bit more prcise and zoom in more... so there might be sections where i've used the mpc recording as a template but mostly its just done when i want to layer something and i've already recorded the mpc

I quite like that maara. My only problem is that there's now an overwhelming amount of tunes like this, and all anyone can ever say is... oh, sounds like Burial.

Like Burial-sound has become a sub-genre.

yes - but most of them are just Burial wannabe's....
I know only 3 or 4 guys who do this "genre" really good and whose sound is original in their way..

There's the flip. Again quite beautiful, but not raw enough for me. The first time I hear Distant Lights I thought I was going to explode.

I hate that s*ut....! I don't like her sets, I don't like her radio shows, I don't like how she looks like, I don't like her voice and to be honest mostly I don't like her track selection... I don't know why everyone is talking about her like she is a star or whatever...-she just sucked few d*cks to get to a radio show at the beginning.....

I suppose drum wise it's a matter of not using no snap to grid or anything like that. Used to do it all the time in Magix music maker. Loved that program. Was a bit shit mind.

I can't do the whole PC arrangement thing myself. I love to bash out the beat using the MPC or something else external.
