MIDI causes jumping

Hi all. I am using a realtime sequencer to trigger the sounds in the MPC1000 (JJOS2XL), but when it receives a note it will jump to the corresponding pad in program mode. This is annoying when you want to edit a sound while the external sequencer sends a ton of notes into the MPC. Do anyone you know if it's possible to turn "MIDI follow" off?

And no i don't want to stop the sequencer while editing, this is the whole idea
