Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

It would need to be a SCSI CF reader as the s5000 has no (working) ATAPI interface.
Other than that I don't think the s5000 is that picky but we would need to know the model of CF reader to comment.

sounds like you want to move the card reader from your xl to an s5000. pilchard is right . . . more information on the card reader is needed to comment. last month in the studio i connected an external non hotswap card reader (originally purchased for an xl) from mpcstoragesolution.com, into an s6000 and it was immediately recognized. i tried a 32gb flash card and formatted it fat32, and saved and loaded. no problem. i imagine it would work for the s5000 as i think it has the same mainboard as the s6000. btw 32gb will not work on the xl so 16gb is the max. peace

really? was he using any particular os with the xl? i know with the 1.14 os the 'max size' partition that can be created is 1gb, so with 26 partitions the 16gb card works good, but if you have a 32gb flash card, i do not see how that can be done. With the max 26 letters (a-z), each partition would 1.23gb which is past the 1gb max per partition. you would need 32 partitions for a 32gb card to meet the 1gb per partition requirement. when i tried formatting the 32gb card on the xl it gave an error. i do not see how that is possible. any ideas?

dont ask me, I never tried it... I only ever used 1 gig cards on my xl.. (dont put all your fruit in one basket)

however what would happen in your scenario is you would format 26 partitions, and the rest goes unallocated. However, I dont know how it was set up... hard drives (scsi) were capable of up to 9 gig partitions on the XL.
