Enormous DIG

Shop owner was getting rid of hundreds of 45s today. Gave me all of these for 30 dollars.

Lets just say I'll be busy for the next 3 weeks ha.

i prefer sound of 33s but it's still good analogic sound!!

I tend to overlook 45s because they're usually in crappy condition where I go to dig. I get better value buying albums.

i LOVE 45s
i'm always seeking 7"
the grooves are more deeper than in 33s so you got more bass and high tones
i don't sample many 45s, but i definitely love to listen 7"

i used to not really like them - they are often in worse shape (paper sleeves go figure).

recently i dropped a whopping $4 on a whole stack of great shit, and then found a $3 box that just needed new latches...total investment about $9 and now i feel like a mini-dj carrying my mini-crate of mini-records.

if you find any country classics i might be interested - totally depends on quality i def dont need a bunch of scratched up 45s.

I've found a few country in good condition. Let me sort through and I'll get back to you with which ones they are.

Its like everyone else said, 45's are a lot of work for a little bit. Its like finger food, eventually you'll get full but it might take you a bunch of them. They are usually damaged because they get stacked like in the picture, just on top of each other and tossed in tubs, etc... I also hate changing the record so much. Only way I'd deal with a 45 is if it was like a break that I knew and needed. Good luck though.

i like the idea of taking a little record with only a song with me instead of a 33 album (i usually play only one song per album in my dj sets) so i don't have to transport a big crate of 33 that is very heavy
plus some stuff was originaly pressed ony in 45s 7"

The format is not my thing

- too small
- big hole
- need of a 78RPM TT to sample them speeded up (straight from the TT to the MPC).
- relatve thin paper sleeve with not much info (one reason for me to buy vinyl is a big cover or inner sleeve with a lot of things to look at. like pictures, collages, infos about this and that)
- many without any sleeve therefor a bad condition (at least the places I dig)


but on the other side

+ better sound than 33/12" IMO
+ b-sides as thx said. And some of them have slightly other versions/mixes than the album (breaks)
+ easy to store or carry around
