Finally had enough!!!! >:/

The 2500 has so far been the worst bit of kit I have ever bought

I maxed mine out!
And it was doing great, started building up my sample library, loading and saving sounds.

Then as soon as I started using the programs, sequences & folders
I had nothing but hassle

Load save errors on stock os

"file name exists" IT REALLY DOESN'T

Formatted my hd about a thousand times

For a day it worked perfectly and I started to enjoy using it

FOR A DAY!!!

Now we are back to the same old shit

The annoying thing is that the hd is brand spanking new and works perfectly on any other machine, just not mine

I have disabled the hard drive now and will just use cf cards

If that plays up I am getting me a 3000

happens when your filenames are longer than 16 characters and when those first 16 ones are the same.

It's not that either, as the last file I attempted was 950k1 k

cant blame ya, if I had to use akai OS I wouldnt bother with any of the current mpcs myself

Filenames, not file sizes.

Are you using Akai OS? Did you try JJ OS Free?

This happens when the machine doesnt recognize additional memory on a CF card or internal Hard Drive, and you try to save a file on it.

I had a 40 Gig Harddrive and was only able to us about 1gb of it before getting those save errors. Same with CF cards.

MPC 2.5k is just a cheaply built machine.

while the 2500 is cheap in comparison to the classics...those problems have nothing to do with the build of the machine...most if not all 2500 users got hard drives in their mpcs or use cf cards and issues you're having hardly pop up....did you format both cf and hard disk using mpc ? is your akai OS up to date ?

I got rid of mines..not because of that issue, but for other issues. That issue didn't bother me, I just bought new CF cards.

I was using a 160 gb one :/

Anyway the cf card is working with no problems. Got an 8gb one on it's way

Been using an s-950 & my aphex 104 for resampling... This makes up for the 2500's lack of character.

I feel you..MPC 2500 with JJOS blows the 2000XL out the water in every category, but sound and durability. I heard the 2500 sounds good when its ran thru the Apogee ROSETTA 800 AD/DA Converter though.

i had this prob. had to tk out bad wav files.... those that are not 16 bit/44. if you just use it, to sample, and not try all this crazy importing, like i am still trying. i have like over 300 amazing kits, you will be fine.

reformat, and building your own library by sampling. forces you to build your own issh.

did you import samples and get the message, or you got the error message without importing?

to make up for the loss and bad taste from discovering that you made a rash action and discovering the real problem after the fact.... let me suggest you install an upgrade instead.. maybe a solid state drive or something...

personally I dont think those solid state upgrades are worth the money for the mpc
