using multiple effects while making beat

my dilemna is this.....in fl studio i can apply multiple fx at once on multiple channels at the same time. im trying to make the switch over completely to the mpc and sp303.

so using the mpc 1000, how would i accomplish this as if i was using fl studio and being able to add multiple fx at once to my sounds.?

(ALL MY SOUNDS, except for melody/instrument samples, ARE MONO)

for instance, apply a certain reverb to my drums and while everything is still playing, add a different reverb to my hats...and so on.

would i need multiple fx processors? maybe run the assignable outs to the processors?

unless you wanna use the reverb in the mpc and then a different effect in the sp303 otherwise no. The sp303 only allows one effect at a time. You need to resample the sample with the effect you want and then do it again if you want multiple effects applied to one sound.

i use my mpc in combination with cubase, cubase allows you to stack multiple vst's for realtime processing of whatever you got connected to that channel, so you dont have to wait until you've recorded everything to make use of plugins and have them shape your sound.. So with the amount of plugins out there, you got almost unlimited sound shaping options, and when finished with the mixing and sound shaping and when you got something you like, you can just hit record in cubase and capture it all for further mixing and arrangement if needed.

you still need multiple outs going into multiple channels though - u will be more limited than you were with FL, regardless...

but remember, that doesn't exactly mean a BAD thing

You're gonna run into limitations if you want to cut the computer out of the equation altogether. The 'standard' way of working is to eventually track everything out to a DAW and apply effects there, but that may not be the ideal way of working for you.

Years ago I used to process a batch of sounds in Sound Forge and then sample them again, but that's a totally hit and miss way of working.

my advice would be to embrace the change, if you want to make it, and dont try to treat your mpc like fruity loops.

you'd need a lot of cables + outboard fx to come close to what you can do in a daw. but all the techniques mentioned are totally good options, if you really have to go that route.

mpc individual outs --> sp303 --> mpc record in

well i've been thinking about it and im going to go with both hardware + software. I've got a 4 channel mixer and i plugged the 4 assignable outs (drums on 1, snares on 2, hats on 3, bass on 4) from the mpc1000 into my mixers inputs, correspondingly. here's the problem with that....inside fl studio i wanted the first 4 channels to be exactly the same as the mpc 1000 outs, kicks on 1, snares on 2, etc.

BUT

anytime a particular out would play, all the channel meters in fl studio would light. what would need to be done to have each mpc assignable out have its OWN channel in fl studio, where i could add seperate effects?

i tried setting the In and Out on each channel in fl studio to match my mixer, and i switch the sound device from primary soundcard to the mixer...that didnt work. so then i switched to asio4all2, still cant figure it out. im lost

is your mixer your interface?

if not you'd have to go:

mpc 1 > interface input 1> FL track 1
mpc 2 > interface input 2> FL track 2
mpc 3 > interface input 3> FL track 3
mpc 4 > interface input 4> FL track 4

or if your mixer has fx that you want to use:

mpc 1 > mixer > interface input 1> FL track 1
mpc 2 > mixer > interface input 2> FL track 2
mpc 3 > mixer > interface input 3> FL track 3
mpc 4 > mixer > interface input 4> FL track 4

might help to mention your interface.
