Really basic but slowly adding bit by bit. (I am an animator/filmmaker at heart with a huge love for making music)

Image

MacBook Pro powering everything running Logic mainly (i jump to other software in some cases but I love Logic for what I do. I actually really like working with software and building my own tools. MPC workflow is so damn good, but it can be replicated with more control and no wait time.)

Yamaha HS50m's
Apogee One driving them (single input is all I currently plan on needing with this setup, turntable bringing samples in)
MPK49 (love it, pads aren't sensitive enough, going to try the MPDstuff corks)
MPD18 (same deal, love the simplicity but going to try to get a bit more sensitivity out of the pads)
M-Audio 49 key controller (separate MIDI channel as the MPK)

On the hunt for a Technics 1200, nice Vestax mixer, Yamaha HS10w, and will probably try to pickup Maschine as well, haven't used one yet but what is not to like? Great pad feel, linked to software like I have always wanted with an MPC, simple browser with no space limits, great sampling tools. Want to keep it simple as possible. Will probably switch over to an 27" iMac setup in the future but this works great for now. I realize monitor placement isn't ideal with the window and the small corner but still works out very well.

EDIT:
Would love to get people's opinions on monitor isolation pads. I plan on doing some experiments with various types of foam I already have. One simple layer of the basic foam padding seems to be working quite well, almost no vibration through the desk and sounding nice and balanced.

The little corner behind my right monitor doesn't seem to have a huge effect either, which is fantastic. For my smaller setup the HS50's are fantastic. I could easily get by with just these but from a listening standpoint I think i will pick up the HS10 still. Love me so low end.

Aight, here's some pics of the things that i use to make music. :)

It's not really a "setup", because the only thing that doesn't get moved every time is the S950, amp and turntable... the MPCs and monitors i move around whenever i feel like making a beat. I usually start by listening to records, then pick the MPC i feel like working with at the time and set it up on the floor next to the turntable (for sampling) and later in front of the couch with the monitors in place (for trimming samples, making programs, jamming away on the pads, recording, etc). The reason is that i don't have a studio, my studio is also my living room... so i store things away when i don't use them.

MPC60, got it a week ago, started digging into it already and love it! Currently waiting for the 3.10 OS chips and the memory expansion to arrive. Some of my records in the background.

Image
SL1210 MKII, Revox B750 MKII, Akai S950 (newest addition to my setup), more records...

Image
Got it today, managed to sample and play back something, make sure everything works... basically not much of an idea yet, will have to RTFM first!! :D

Image
2000XL and 2000XL SE with switched face plates, i'm basically using the SE with the standard face plate... keeping the other one for parts if ever needed. More records...

Image
MPC500 (where it all began) and MK (bought it for basslines but rarely use it, i still prefer filtered samples somehow).

Image
Guess what, more records! :D

I started making beats a little more than three years ago on the MPC 500. This is where i ended up so far.
I plan on getting rid of the computer in my music (which i use for tracking out and mixing right now). What i really need (after recovering from buying the 60 and the S950 and all the upgrades.... sight!) is a good analogue mixing table and further down the road a nice tape machine would complete the idea of my setup... not to forget some effects, filters, comps and EQ's...

I guess I'm going to be old and poor when this is all finished... :? :D

Yes indeed! Even better when it is raining, at a little seasoning to the beat.

Nice living room! Love the monitor stands/tables with the MP in the middle. Plan on building a nice listening setup myself, like the idea of keeping things down low. Would love to just sit on the floor next to a turntable hunting through records.

You aren't "getting rid of the computer" you are literally adding more computers! Hehe, instead of just using one powerful one you are buying a custom built computer for every task. ;)
