New to mono samplers... question about sampling sources and

If by amp you mean Stereo Receiver... then hit the mono switch, and use your headphone output to sample from.

I'm a bit ashamed to say it, but all i had to do was to read the manual of my amp...

There's a pre-amp output on the backside which is the same signal that goes to the speaker outputs. This means that i can hear all the setting changes i do on the front panel of the amp, including the mode selector! This is great, since i can simply connect one channel of the cable to the MPC/s950 input and switch the channels on the amp, without switching cables. Plus i get a free "EQ" that i can apply to the stuff i sample... before actually sampling it.

I noticed the same thing that tapedeck mentioned by the way... if i put it on mono (with the mode selector of the amp), the signal is losing "power", it sounds more dull/bland compared to listening to only the left or right channel.

Anyway, problem solved, i'm happy. Thanks for all the input!

i was trying to convey that sometimes mixing a stereo signal to mono actually creates way more problems.

not all the time, but there will be times when that mono signal is going to be totally f*kt.

do you mean safely (without blowing a fuse) or at all?

cos there are plenty that will do it by just summing the two signals into one
