Question about overdubing in Looper

1) As I understand when in overdub mode the Looper records layer on top of layer, but it needs to make the previous layers quieter with each pass, do you know the % of volume decrease in comparison to the layer that's being currently recorded?

2) How man layers does the looper overdub before it deletes them or sets the volume to 0?

to my knowledge when you overdub it does not make any previous notes quieter at all.

I think it depends on your setup.

Mine is turntable -> DJ mixer -> MPC -> mixing desk

I m not in front of it right now but my basic settings are for 0 at the vu-meter in the dj mixer and the final mixer, MPC rec gain at approximately 10h and main volume at 1h (MPC out is set at -6db, monitor OFF). In the looping recorder mode, level is brung down to 71.

If you want to link the looper mode to a sequence I think you have to do other adjustments.

Generally speaking, setting the right level is not easy. Firstly it depends on your equipment ( how is the relationship between 0db and the value in dBu) and most important it depends on what you want to do.

I have a behringer CT100 (cable tester) that can send a 1k test tone at +4dBu, -10dBv and I think it s very useful.

But to answer directly to your questions :

1) as emceewhiterabbit suggests there should be no decrease in level
2) the limit is 1 minute for a loop but I don t know if there is a limit inside a loop. That s something we should test.
