ahhh "SCSI READ ERROR"

whats good yall.. I got a problem here... I bought a 2000 a couple months ago and I used to just use floppies. But a couple weeks ago I bought a zip off of ebay. I read up and did my research on what kind of wire I needed and all. So I know I got the right kind of wire. But the problem is.. After I save a song and try to load it back up I keep getting "SCSI READ ERROR". I thought maybe it was the disk's that came with it. Cause they guy I bought it from said that they had been used before. But I format em and everything. Whats weird is I can Load up aps, and single sound files. But when I go to load up the "ALL" files I keep getting the error message. then it tells me "SCSI NOT READY" and the machine freezes. Then I turn the mpc off and on and try to load the file after about 5 or 6 times of getting the message itll finally load. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something Im not doing right? Maybe all 6 disks I got are messed up since they been used before already?? Im kinda clueless and gettin pissed off cause itll take like 13 minutes to load the **** beat. a few suggestions:

1) Try a brand new disk. The probability that there is a problem with certain file TYPE on six disks is next to nil, but this is the easiest to rule out.

2) Try with OS 1.70. I have a copy here:

3) Avoid using APS / ALL files. I suggest avoiding these for the most part anyway. I just always save PGM and MID pairs. These are the most portable/converable across MPC platforms. Just ask all the MPC1000 owners that have only a bunch APS and ALL files from their old MPC that they can do little with. If they had saved as PGM / MID, there would be a way to use them on every other MPC.

I tried the older O.S .. no luck... then I tried to just save the sequences seperately, and the PGM files. The only thing with that though after I loaded everything and went to song mode the sequence of the loops I had was gone. is there a way to save that ??

seems odd, when you save the mid file (sequence), all that info is contained there

Nah man, everything else is fine.. I load up the PGM file, the Mid files and its all there. Then I go to the song Mode and its blank.

Did You format your disk in the MPC or in the PC?

Mpc.. I got around the problem though.. I just save the mid and Pgm files to the zip drive then save the ALL files on floppy. good looks to yall for the help though.

song mode will always be blank, unless you save the song. Convert the "song" into a "sequence" then save it. youll be straight yo
