I was showing the MPC 1000 to someone and we were having issues with correctly using the Timing Correct feature in JJ OS 3.12.

When recording a beat on the pads, is it possible to play with Timing Correct on so that it automatically quantizes the beat? Normally, I have T.C. set to 1/16 with 50% swing, and after I track a seemingly perfect beat the MPC plays it back all choppy and low level. However, when I track with T.C. off, then turn T.C. on, it'll play back fine.

Also, how is the quantization in JJ OS 3.12 compared to the Akai OS? I wouldn't be against going back to Akai OS if it's able to quantize while recording.

Thanks for the help guys.

Your problem is probably the fact that the quantisation only works in realtime when you are recording. :? with both Akai and JJ OSs. MPC only plays what you put into it. and 50% swing is of course going to give you zero swing. Level is probably your velocity being lower. search full level

Thanks for the reply man, I appreciate it. Could you explain the quantization a little more? What are its limitations, and how is it to be used correctly? I also noticed that when playing back a loop, and the cursor is over the "Bars:__" option, you can press "window" and it'll bring up a menu that can cycle through what seems to be T.C. options while playing back in the main screen. What exactly does this do vs. the T.C. F1 menu? Thanks a lot.

tc while recording, not normal playback. When recording tc, your playback will equal the tc.
If tc is changed while normal playback (no tc recorded seq) you will not hear tc changes.
