When I record (for example) a 2 bar sequence, after the 2 bars it switches to overdub. How can I make it so it stays on record?

extend the length of your sequence to keep recording or if you only want 2 bar sequence simply change tracks after every 2 bars to layer different sounds using overdub.

That wont work. I only want 2 bars, and I dont want to layer, I want to record. (erase what was previously there with the new take)

What Im tryn to do is just continually lay down my kick drum until i get a good take.

Anyone?

maybe you could use a footswitch to have rec on all the time

p.s.

Tried it, it does not work. The rec led is on all the time but the mpc records like in overdub mode.

it would be a cool feature to rec keep erasing after it go around the loop, and probably not difficult to implement.

It's not designed to work like that. No way around it, move on.
