reason i asked is because i was wondering if others would have some trouble matching everything up.. getting the correct starting time and stuff.. thats what kinda worried me
If you wanted to get a 'true' stereo sample, that is the same as the source stereo sample, into the MPC60 (with 3.10 OS), I would probably record it into a computer or something else first, then transfer that to the MPC60 as a stereo file.

^when you work with the 60 do you ever find it difficult to match?

Yes, very difficult, but that's probably because version 2 of the OS, that I have, does not let me match.

I still have not upgraded to OS 3.10, I'll probably wait now to see if Rohan is able to get a recode of his new MPC3000 OS to work well on the MPC60.

I would think that you could get it close, but it would not be exact. Slipping one channel against the other, as this would do, would change the sound of the sample, but you would have to try it to see how much, and whether you can notice it or not.

ah, that scares me lol
i guess practice makes perfect, i guess i'll see when i get one
thanks for the info

what i do is send two channels from the turntable to one bus output, you kinda just mix the two channels into one signal and bus output with your mixer and sample from that mixer output... this is one big reason why i recommend everyone should have at least a 4 bus mixer for FULL ROUTING CAPABLITIES.... :D

nice idea! I'll try that with my allen & heath

That's obviously the best way to do it, so you can control how much of each side of the stereo singal gets mixed to the mono input of the MPC, or you could mix together other non-stereo sources as a single mono signal to send to the MPC input.

Or just take one side of the stereo signal with the Y-cable.

If you wanted to do it cheap, you could make up your own special cable...

The tips of the tip/sleeve plugs on the left and right sides of the Y-cable would be connected together to/at the tip of the tip/ring/sleeve plug at the MPC end.

The sleeves of the tip/sleeve plugs on the left and right sides of the Y-cable would be connected together to/at the sleeve of the tip/ring/sleeve plug at the MPC end.

The ring of the tip/ring/sleeve plug at the MPC end would be joined to the sleeve of the tip/ring/sleeve plug at the same MPC end.

This would mix together left and right channels equally, and would input them as a mono signal to the positive side of the balanced MPC input. The unused negative side of the balanced MPC input would be shorted to ground, in the same way it is when plugging an unbalanced tip/sleeve instrument cable into the MPC input.

Just use a normal mono balanced (if the output of what you are recording from is balanced) or unbalanced cable out of one side of your stereo output, or use a mixer to mix the left and right channels of the stereo signal into mono before sending it to the MPC60.

My mixer has no mono outputs, only RCA left+right unbalanced. I would love to be able to record vinyl to the MPC60 by going straight from the mixer without having to pan it either side, and hence losing some audio integrity.

Two questions just to gain some clarity;
1) When you say "unbalanced cable out of one side of your stereo output", do you mean to say, for example, just plugging the right side of the Y Cable into you recording output and then the other end to the MPC Rec In? In my situation should I use a different cable (that I'm unaware of)?

2) How would I use a mixer to mix the left and right channels of a stereo signal into mono before going to the MPC60?
