Pads dead or not?

I have a strange problem with my 25k.

Pad No. 5 is nearly dead, this means when i hit it there is no response in 19 from 20 cases.

Pad 6 and 7 and the 16 Level Buttons are also nearly dead, but only when i have my mpc on a soft base (f.e. my sofa or bed etc...). when i put it on my knees (i do a lot of fingerdrumming ) or on a hard base, the pads responsing most of the time.

do you have any experiences like this?
i think i should go for new pad sensors, but want to be sure.

The 16 levels is a worn tact switch, the different positions are probably allowing you to hit it dead center more easily. I would definitely open it up and check for any loose cables, dust off the sensor sheet possibly with an air can if it's mad dusty. Although I've lightly brushed the sheet with a microfiber cloth myself. I don't know if that's a good idea though so I mentioned the air can. If you bought it used there's a chance it had been opened before and wasn't re-assembled as snugly as it should. My XL was like that, and the pads were very loose. I got the screws back in dead straight and the sheet was properly snug again.

Really though it's likely you need a new sheet and a tact switch. There's lots of threads here that will help with the installations if you aren't familiar with that stuff.
