fingerdrum on the 500?

hi guys,
i was wondering how people fingerdrum on the 500... by my side i set the drum pieces everytime in the same way:

1 - bd a
2 - sn a
3 - perc
4 - bd b
5 - sn b
6 - perc (usually clap)
7 - bd c
8 - sn c
9 - perc/or another hh
10 - hhc
11 - hho
12 - cymbal

i'm always at full level and i use the right hand for pad from 1 to 9 (basically bd & sn), and the left hand for hats...

trying to use the more fingers i can...

finally this is an instrument just like a piano or a guitar, so there must be a "correct" way to play it... or not? (maybe no i know)

What's good Carl? There was a thread a few days back asking the same question. The gist if it was, there is no right or wrong way, it's what feels good for you homie.

There's no 'correct' way to play any instrument, just that there are a few notions that typically make sense.

Your best bet for finger drumming is to leverage as much muscle memory as you can though and put those sounds in similar places so you can work on building up your pattern catalogue in your head and not confuse the heck out of yourself. I suppose though it depends on how good your memory is vs. your muscle memory and how many sounds you want to be playing at once. If you're going to be rocking a bd/sd/hh/clap/bassline/chord/fx all at the same time you'll definitely have your hands full, but if you're mostly practicing bd/sd/hh then it is probably less of an issue for you.

on the 500 a full drumset is ok, 12 pads is not that much to play drums, bass melody and fx. i'm not good enough maybe... the thing is that i prefer to improve on drums at least.
i must say that i'm ok with the whatever works is right philosofy, but every time i see jeremy ellis tapping the hh with the right and bd sn with the left i think i started this mpc thing the wrong way.
btw araab music too is a right hh left bd sn hand guy.
i don't like him, but he definetely can play his instrument.

just make it as easy as possible put the drums almost in a way you can just play them after eachother.

What I usually do;

I make 3 x 4 steps,
so my first 4 steps are basedrum, hi hat, snare , hi hat ( on the bd and snare 2nd sample is hi hat too)
2nd 4 steps are the same except on the 3th sample of the BD and or snare or hi hat, there is also my sample and the 3th 4 steps are 4 clean samples ( kick, snare, melody), in this way I am able to **** a lot with the thing, and usually use my slider for hi hats.

When I finger drum, usually I chop up a drum break and put them on 4 or 5 pads and rearrange the pattern. Sometimes I don't chop out single drum sounds, I'll just have one pad that goes "click - BOOM" and another "Bam - CRAaassh" and a "Ba-Boom Bop" and then work it out.
