Debating on picking one up. Mainly for bass sounds and other misc. sounds. Can you tweak the sounds well on these? Are the sounds any good that they come with?

Got one it was my first real piece of kit. Of course, I'm kind of bias towards E-MU gear, but the MP-7 is dope, on a scale from 1 to 10, I give it an 8!

The command stations have 16 dedicated knobs to tweak unlike the 4x4 sub-menu setup of the rack or keyboard cousins in that family.

I will warn you of this, the base chip that comes with the MP-7 is the same as the Mo Phatt and MK-7, which is mostly comprised of Hip-Hop and R'n'B type presets. You won't be finding any crazy supersaws in there. Another note, there hasn't been a song in the last 12 years that doesn't have at least 1 sound from that chipset in it, so I may sound a tad bit dated at this point but the knobs can bring new life into those old preset.

Think of it as an ASRXPro that you can't put your own samples into! If that b1tch could sample, EM-U and ENSONIQ would still be in business!

BTW... how much are you paying for this thing??

are the sounds on it good though? Cause the expansion roms are going for like 100 and im not going to pay that much for 'em. Do you think the basses and keys that come with it are usable

Useable, HELL Yes! Due to the synth section being so deep, because a lot of the expansion ROMs use a lot of the same instruments to make up the presets. The composer rom (proteus 2000) has some excellent bass presets as well.

I've had the MP-7 for the last 8 or 9 years. Nice useable piece of gear. If you find one in good shape for a good price, go for it.

Had one back in the day, sold it, bought another one a few months back. Good to have around. Like it was mentioned previously, the synth engine is deep, sequencer is dope, and at the end of the day it's just a fun piece of gear to have. Why they didn't put a sampler in it, I have no idea, they would have been really sick with an internal sampler.

i had a px7 (the silver version) and put my mophatt rom in it from my mk6. It was the business. I sold them and regret it completely.

I actually could have done without the command stantion and would have prefered to keep the mk6 (ugly purple keyboard) and put the pk7 rom in it. I wanted to fill all 3 rom slots in the mk6, never got around to it.

anyways, the mophatt rom is nice. the bass was nice on those. and drums too. I really like the filters with the drums or the bass, you could get some really phat sounding stuff and overall seemed to blend nice with samples.

if you got a chance to scoop one up, go for it. dont pass on it, dont sell the shit even if you are not diggining it at the moment.

the saddest part was that i got both mine brand new. I keep my shit in mint shape. now if i want to get one, its gonna be all beat up from some dirty finger muther fckr.

Ive been thinking about getting the proteus x software or whatever its called. but without the hardware knobs, i dont think it will be the same.

yeah that's the one I had, the silver one, maxed out with roms, plus I had the mk6 maxed lol.

Sold it all, now I got an mp7, good condition, composer and xlead rom.

I had the software too, it's not the same, it sounds very close, but it misses a bit of the movement and depth from the modules/stations.

No matter if I rarely use it, I'll be keeping the mp7 around, need to decide on one more rom to throw in it lol.
