Arrow keys don't work..

Today I got my MPC1000, which is used.
I played with it for 4 hours and then suddenly left and right arrow keys didn't work no more. The right works sometimes if I press it right but left wont respond at all.. What to do? And I opened the MPC and they seemed to be fine, but still they don't work.

try deoxit first. if that doesn´t help you have to solder in new tact switches. yours seem to be dead...

Deoxit = lubricant spray? And they're not completely dead, the right one works fine if I press it right way, sometimes it dont. Left works 1 out of 100 times, only if I press it right, but very rarely. I have the same problem with F3.

Deoxit, once that stops working you'll be replacing tact switches, this is a common issue.

Where do I exactly have to spray it? Can I take the button off so there's only tact switch?

you CAN spray it from outside but I think it'll just be messy and not as effective, I'd just pop the case off and remove the button to expose the switch, then you can control where the deoxit goes. For all you know the previous owner was a dirtbag and its loaded with crud.

So I can just pull it off without damaging it, I don't really wanna **** up anything I just got this today and I'm really frustrated already.
I've heard rumours about Akai's bad quality but I would never have thought it was this bad!

the 1000 is dope, its build quality is pretty shitty, but no matter what else I use, I always come back to it. With its problems and all, its the MOST fun I have when making beats...food for thought. Sometimes quality is in different forms.

As far as opening it up, its pretty straight-forward. Be slow and take pictures if you're unsure. Youtube has tons of videos. Just look up any video for pad replacement, button repair...etc. Regardless of what the video is showing the process to disassemble/assemble is the same. The ONLY thing I tell people to be extremely careful with is the CF card. The pins in the slot tend to bend/break easily.

Not sure how far you are from NY but if you need it repaired, I've fixed quite a few 1ks already.

Hey i have the exact problem and i went online to buy deoxit but there's different ones which exact one did you get and where exactly on the tact switch did you apply at? And is deoxit harmful to the mpc at all? Thanks
