being some what limited in the effects on the mpc what are other people using for effects in the hardware department?

Compression, reverb, eq, delay within my audio interface. The hardware effects to me sound better than inside the 4k. Also, I won't have to weigh down my cpu with plugins per track/buss if I am content with the audio recording permanent effect(s) onto the wave going into the daw.

I never mentioned cf card, I don't use cf cards with my 4k, I didn't download anything, re-read my reply.

Processing through analogue synths, reverb units, compressors, guitar pedals, Amiga sampler, big desk, capturing the sound of the room, utilising a lot of routing, side-chaining, etc. Adding personality where itb cannot reach.
