midi and the mpc 1000

If your using an MPC 1000 and a Microkorg and have both machines audio outputs routed into 2 seperate channels on a mixer and then have Midi cables set up to have the MPC 1000 record the Midi data from the MicroKorg, would I be able to do this....

1) Play a sequence on the MicroKorg and record each note/key hit via Midi into the MPC 1000....and if I hit the wrong key, could I change that individual note/key inside the MPC 1000?

2) Also, say the sequence Im playing on the MicroKorg isnt perfectly in time or sync with the drum breat I've got playing on the MPC 1000.....Could I record the Midi sequence onto the MPC 1000 and setup exact start and end points for the MIDI Sequence from the Microkorg, this way the sequence would play back perfectly and every note would play exactly where it needed to be.

Your recording midi into your 1k sequencer but your thinking the recording is audio and it's not. Once you get midi'd connections and settings straight your playing the keys on microkorg will be just like you tapping pads on the mpc, it will record and playback the same way on the 1k sequencer.

I'm currently doing the same thing with my triton extreme and 4k. I put the triton into program mode so I can play programs, and record my key playing into the 4k sequencer. When I press play on the 4k it plays back my 4k drum banging and the triton keys I was playing as well.

I always do a metronome count in on playback and record to avoid the infamous "midi not sync starting problem" that some people run into. It gives both machines time to sync before the performance begins.

i understand the midi and audio difference, all except for this...

I understand that the MPC would be only recording the MIDI data/sequence (since im having all the audio cables going into my interface). But say I record the Midi sequence and have the MPC 1000 looping, if i go into the grid to adjust a few midi note(s) here or there, will the audio going into my DAW change in realtime, according to the changes i make in the grid by changing the midi data/notes?

thats the thing, im kinda asking before i buy a keyboard. i just wanted to find out if something like this would work before i go out and drop $250 on a the mK or another decent synth...just like to see if the changes i make in the midi edit on the mpc 1000 would affect the audio playing through the speakers in realtime, without having to stop and re-record or re-play the sequence. this would allow for better live performance and be faster all around, seems like it would affect the audio in realtime though..

pretty much just like the guy explained and showed in that vid, connect the 2 machines with midi cables. the sequence is recorded into the mpc, there you can edit the notes and velocity, etc. of each note. all the audio will be played out of wherever you the audio cables plugged into....whether into the records ins of the mpc or the inputs of a mixer/interface

another good thing is, if you dont want to do a lot of editing inside the mpc of all the recorded midi notes, you can turn on time correction and the notes will be recorded according to the timing you have set for that track.

-also, if your worried about the start/end points, just give yourself a count in with the mpc (like a 4 tick click in) and that will give the mpc and w/e other midi machine you have connected, enough time to sync up before you start recording.
