Opinions on next purchase : MPC1000 JJOS or MPC5000

I have read alot of articles on this forums, gear slutz, future producers and havent really got what I need.... the pros and cons on whether to wait and save more for a MPC5000 or get a more portable MPC1000 with upgrade using JJOS. I dont want to start a flaming war because there are loads of people with an MPC1000, and there are also peeps with an MPC5000.... it seems to me that after 3 years there seems to be a new feeling about the MPC5000 and how it is really a beast, there are features that I ould like in the 5000 like non destructive chopping, but after I pay new for a MPC1000, i still have to pay 90 pounds for JJOS, then 100 for hardrive, memory, adapter, so why not wait and get a MPC5000 that has better filters, effects, synth, hardrive, better quantize resolution, so really im looking for opinions either way but without the arguments and real discussion on what people think? So your time is appreciated.... what do you think I should do?

Totally agree, JJOS is continuely going through change and additions, but can what am I missing if I go for a MPC5000? I can afford to get a MPC1000, but don't want to regret it and feel the need to upgrade, like I said, if I have to pay for extras which are already included in the MPC5000 then maybe I should wait..... Urgh!

Can I extract the chop later? Also how is the midi editing capablities? Can I load in midi files, edit and save them on the MPC1000 JJOS? Whats the resolution of the midi edit grid? Is it easy to use? Hows does new features feel like GPE, Patterns and can you mention why you think JJOS is the way to go...

What about MPC2500SE JJOS or MPC5000? I need to make the right choice!! Urgh!

A MPC1000 is more portable, to be honest, I will end up out of pocket if I buy an MPC5000 as much as I would like to get one,... I just dont want to get an MPC1000 and find myself spending another 200 quid upgrading. If this is the case I might aswell wait and save more for a 2500se or 5000...

I know what you mean about upgrading, but so long as you buy a newer 1000 with the upgrading pads you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Im seeing second hand 2500's go anywhere from $700 and up that's only how many squids from mpc 1000

This is a 1K with maxed ram + jjos. Add less than 50 dollars for HDD + bay and you got it.

Take into account that I picked the first one with maxed ram + new pads + JJOS... and it's a 'buy now'... You can pay less if you go for replacing the pads and adding the RAM by yourself.

The question you should ask goes at the opposite: what a 5000 would add to your arsenal, in terms of what you really want/need to do?

Is the synth you looking at?

(1K + any hw synth) > 5K and can still cost you less (microkorg...): the lowest I saw a 5K was here at the cashconverters in Brussels and was for 900EUR... do the math.

I don't take the 2.5K into account due to the ridiculous price it has both bought new than 2nd hand. Except for that, I have one and love it (paid a fraction of the price, thou) quite as much as I used to love my old 1K!
