DO THE TESTS!!!
try your damndest to get a scope, use a soundcard scope if you have to.
the build manual doesn't always explain how to set the scope, so you have to do a little figuring out on your own.
for example, the settings to show the VCO working properly will not show the filter working properly...you have to go into finer detail to see that.
i am in happy x0xland right now because i opened up my 'dead' x0x to redo all the tests (did i mention to be sure and DO THE TESTS!), and it started working again.
ps. i never got the 'listen to the output' tests to work, but maybe i was doing it wrong. i was fortunate enough to have a scope my uncle rescued from the phone company.
still, i cant stress enough to do the tests as you build, so you'll know if you have a problem. also, REALLY SERIOUSLY DOUBLE CHECK every component values + orientation because desoldering really really sucks.
