Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey guys, this might be very obvious for all of you, but I just bought a MPC500 and here is my problem.

I need to upload samples of claps/bass drums/snares that are on the album version of the songs we have in order to play them live.

SONG #1 claps/bass drums/ snare
SONG #2 different claps/ different bass drums
etc.....

In which section do I sample those (1second) samples?

Do I create a "SEQUENCE" for each of our songs? and then if I change in between songs to a different sequence, will it play Samples for Sequence #2?

many thanks

hi again!

you can do what you just said and load every sample you need in just one program, and record how many sequences you need for song...

this way will work until you wont need more than 48 sample (actually less than that, you are gonna discover soon the wonderful mpc's 500 world =D).

if you need more than 48 samples for live session (i guess you will) you'll have to create more than a program... (a program is a sample set and its parameters).
to do that check the track parameters menu and the manual for further information.

the point is that you can assign different programs to tracks, this way you can have program 1 for song 1, program 2 for song 2 and so on...

you have to create different seqs as well obviously... for ex:

seq 1 on track 1 has been set to program 1 -> song one (with the sample you need on the 1° song)

seq 2 on track 1 is has been set to program 2 -> song two (with the sample you need on the 2° song)

...and so on... 8)

what kind of music does your band play?

ciao!
