Problem with 2000xl mcd reader

you don't need to cut, the mpc will use the right voltage, I can see you are using the akai cf card, get the sandisk, 1GB, those akai are not compatible with your reader I also have one of those 1GB akai cf cards and works in my 2500 but not with my XL's, the best and more compatible are the 1GB sandisk cf cards.

I'll give the sansdisk cf cards a try. I have turned the machine on with a cf card inserted and the lights on the cf reader never light up, I have tried every possible combination off turning on and off with or without the card, plugged unplugged everything. Talking to a guy from mpcstuff.com, he said not all card readers are compatible so maybe whoever installed it before me didnt know that and thats why it ended up in a pawn shop thinking it's broken. I'll try a few more things, mainly the sansdisk cf card but may just return it.

Also for the sansdisk, does it matter what kind, I know 1gb but Im finding like Ultra II, Type I, etc, etc..??

The ATAPI readers usually have only one jumper to set. MPC2000XL requires this to be set to MASTER.......... how do I do this??

Will help a lot if you post a picture of your card reader, most CF card readers come set to Master by default.
