Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

so i've had my mpc2000xl since mid-2001. sometime in 2002 i got a zip drive (i think the only other option at that time was CD-R? )the zip drive worked great until a couple weeks ago. the mpc is telling me no scsi device! even though it was hooked up... i reseated the cables and power cycled the zip and the mpc and it worked

now, two weeks later, re-seating and power cycling isn't helping anything...

the set up has moved around quite a bit over the years but never gave me a single problem until a couple weeks ago.

i have a new scsi cable on its way to me and i'm already trying to locate a new zip drive (i know you all think zips are crap, but it seems like the easiest solution) i really hope its not a problem with the mpc itself!

if i have to go the route of getting something non-zip what are your recommendations? links appreciated!

thanks!

one of the top features of the mpc 2000xl is the IDE/ATAPI port.

+100

The option to transfer 44/16 wavs on mcd is invaluable!

My ATAPI mcd is 7 in 1 and I hot swappable (hard to find now) and I couldn't be happier with it.

ATAPI is hot swappable, IDE is not. BOTH are IDE compatible of course.

hey man, what 7 cards does the 7 in one take.. actually, I am more curious about which cards besides CF does your mpc work with? I am guessing SD cards work.. but I hear they can have issues...

does yours also take things like smart media, the sony ones.. and those less common formats and do those also work with the mpc? (not that you would really be in the type of bind that requires the use of those other formats)

My interest is more for educational purposes.. or curiosity etc..

I've only ever tried sony ms, cf, sd since that's all I ever had at the crib.
CF is the only one that has ever worked correctly though.

I've put the reader in a tower pc before the other cards worked fine so I know it works, just not in the mpc, only the cf plays nice with the mpc.
