My new DJ toy: Denon DN-MC6000

Got it at Guitar Center this past weekend. I originally went to try out the smaller Denon DN-SC2000.


For a well designed unit that incorporates my Traktor DJ software (comes with Virtual DJ LE software) and especially for the price of it ($650), I had to get the 6000. I won't "really" fire it up and put it to good use until after I complete my certification courses for my job at the end of this month. I've had the Denon 2500F DJ CD player for the past 15 years with no issues so that's why I went with Denon again.
The only real downside to this is wifey wants me to sell off gear that I don't use much. The two I'm concidering to sell are either my 3rd Technics 1200, Roland MV-8000, Yamaha SY55 keyboard or my ASR-10.

Lamp would probably tell me to keep 'em all and get rid of the wife.

ive always thought it was such a shame that pioneer blew up like they did, maybe cause dj culture was so dead set in this 'one and only' mindset thanks to the 1200...the denon cd decks were amazing.

what blows my mind is how expensive dj controllers are in the first place! i was sitting here looking at mixers, including mixers with midi, then i started realising the controllers only were worth the same amount!

but, couldn't you have done the serato digital disk thing with your old cd players?


yeah, I like the numark CDX cd players... obviously the component and build quality is not that great but I like the platter size... and the fact that it moves...

the scratch interpolation / resampling sounded really good on those and yes they felt great. they also made the hdx which was a harddrive instead of cd player.

now those technics sldz cd players...those were some of the worst ive ever heard. i mean it was pitiful.

Naw... my old Denon 2500F was just a DJ CD player not an MP3 player. It just had two small jog wheels so there was no way in hell to manipulate songs like the CDJ's of today.

My friend has two of the SLDZ and yeah they suck digital azz! Cool concept if it would have worked but Technics really missed the mark on the build for them.

yeah I saw the technics ones cause a friend had one he used for a set... well the thing didn't seem like it was built very well which is a shame cause of the reliability of the technics brand. The damn feet with the shock springs wouldn't even stay on them.

yes the cdx has excellent vinyl emulation and tactile feel... not that I have much experience with these types of products but honestly... it's the best I have personally felt and the cheapest bang for buck... you do get what you pay for though when it comes to build... but the exception can be made in this case due to the fact nobody else has a table like that of which I know about.
