Internal Scsi Zip in MPC2000

I'm hoping someone here can help me with this...
I have an internal scsi zip drive which i want to install into my 2000 classic. I removed the floppy, and connected a 50 pin ribbon to the external scsi port with a 25/50 pin adaptor. Didnt work. I did manage to get it to work by connecting it to my external zip drive, but my goal was to eliminate the external drive. I tried it with and without the termination on and I cant figure it out.

are you saying you tried to connect a scsi device to a floppy controller inside the mpc? cause, those are not the same...

essentially, there were these cheap kits going around at one point which were for getting that scsi connector (which is external only on the classic) into the machine for internal drives... the thing is, the guy who sold those went out of business.

No, I tried to connect a scsi zip to the scsi port. I have a pretty basic knowledge of this machine, but I swear to christ zip drives were designed, built and manufactured on the 7th level of hell by lucifer and his mom. I'm about one 'scsi read error' away from kicking my 2000 down some stairs.

okay, so first thing to verify is.. does the scsi zip drive have a terminator?

So here's a pic of the drive. Its a 50 pin sci, with terminator. I tried connecting it to the external port with a male/male adapter and it didn't work with terminator on or off. Seems like it should've been fine. Then I remembered that I had an external zip100 plus that worked where a regular zip 100 didn't. This internal zip is not a 'plus' model, so maybe that distinction would be the same for an internal or external.

Coincidentally, the internal one does work if I daisy chain with the external, but I want to eliminate the external altogether.

Someone should know this, right?

from looking at the pic of your scuzi drive it looks like you have it set to channel one? ive only ever been able to get my scusi drive to work on channel 5. give that a go.
