CABLES NEEDED TO SAMPLE FROM CD PLAYER, MP3 ETC.

that's a good idea lamp ... me, i hit up an electrical supply store going out of business and bought a ton of bulk cable for super cheap. now i just make whatever cable i need on the cheap.

@Lampdog u know what man thats freaken brilliant imma do that for my own christmas gift that way anything u need is a bag away damn, man thanks for the ideas.
oh and this what i ordered today looks good or what guys ? reviews seem better than the HOSA brand.

i've not a plastic container with dividers. mine is not this large, but to give you the idea:



it's aimed at fishing for the lures etc..

I have a few of the rca to 1/4", a few 1/4 to 1/8 (mono and stereo), the impedance converters that have xlr to 1/4" .. headphone splitters, as well as an exacto blade (box cutter) with electrical tape... I bring that on every gig I do just in case something screws up.

one piece of advice I have is.. if you ever buy the RCA (female) to 1/4" (male) adapters... DO NOT get the cheapest ones... skip past the one dollar ones and get the 3 dollar ones.... on the cheap ones after a while the 1/4" end will fall apart... they come apart at the rings (ie: the tip will fall off) and guess when that happens? when its' in the jack... which is a total pain to remove as the jack's pin will be holding it in. I had to take apart a mixer once because of that.. both of those cheap ones the same thing happened.. lucky for me the second adapter from that pair broke by me stepping on it when it fell on the carpet. now I use the gold plated ones if I need to.

It is good advice, Lampdog. I generally stay away from using RCA to TS adapters, because of the reason Lamp mentioned.
I think Hosa cables are good, I haven't had problem with it; the cables aren't stiff, and good price too.
I didn't know finding right cable can be such a daunting task, well, I can understand, when Radio Shack personnel is involved...

yup ill cut the guy at RS a break dude said he has 2 weeks there and hes trying to learn along, but other guy was completely lost.

Same here. I even got bundles of USB, FireWire and SCSI cables in my "bag of tricks". Extremely helpful in times of need... and when Fry's is closed.

Hey guys I finally got my cables in been sampling drums like crazy but one question the cable end that plugs into the phone the 3.5 mm is very sensitive I barely touch or move my phone and it makes a loud static buzz sound and I have the volume on my phone very low and the mpc rec volume up is this normal?? Also which plug is right and which is left for the red/ grey 1/4 mono plugs?.

@lampdog Thanks Man, yeah my phone input is pretty jacked up dropped it alot and is real F'd up but i can still do cds and other joints also if i dont move it too much shudnt be too bad off my phone thanks again brother.

i would suggest doing the opposite, turn your phone up to a good level, and try not to crank the mpc record gain up too much. you want the loudest signal possible coming from your source (your phone), otherwise you are just amplifying noise.

its all up to you though.

left / right doesn't matter. red is usually right.
