I see, but I think they'll release a lot of OS updates in the future though, as Roger Linn has very good track record of supporting his products.

Sample import might happen around version 2.

Step edit mode is more graphical. You can still see the data we are use to (ex 1.1.48), but it has graphics. You can just go right to where you want to and fix stuff fast from knobs. I find it a pain in the ass to search around in step edit mode on my old mps when quantize is off when your just trying to tweak a ghost note or something like that. not a major deal but a cool new feature.

New video that compiles a bunch of user clips with Dave and Roger talking at the beginning. This is dirty in parts!

Also VERY sh*t in parts. Sent this to a friend on Facebook, and I felt like at least 5 of those Tempests are going hugely to waste.

That's the beauty of a musical instrument my friend. It can be played well or badly.

Dodgy nail varnish wearing Tempest user videos aside, I've been hugely convinced recently that I want one. More so than the Minitaur or Minibrute.

I can't help but feel that despite being more expensive it's ultimately incredibly capable as a unit and lets think about this logically.

Since the 808 came out, it's never really not been used in some form or another. An analogue drum machine such as this will be a fantastic investment, which at the end of the day is what I want. Something I can use for years.

I know quite a few Gary Numan fans who would get down to his vids the most. In fact, if you look through some of the OTT distortion, he really shows off the machine to the fullest in parts of his vids.

I honestly don't believe I would ever sell it. It's a real aspirational piece for me, because it wasn't that long ago that I was on the dole and couldn't even scrape a few quid together for a beer!

I aim to get it within 6 months but that may come sooner if my car sails through its MOT (unlikely), and my 4k is cheap to fix.

Well this Gary Numan fan thinks his videos aren't really up to much haha. I've heard a few and they really left me so cold. But there's a couple in that montage that absolutely blew me away.

I totally agree Coz. Having gone through samplers and digital synths the only thing I've ever really lacked is some pure analogue goodness (until my Monotron/Monotribe) but those are obviously worlds apart in their functionality.

Aspirational is the perfect word for this, and oddly that's about my timeframe too hopefully. At the latest I hope to have one by October (birthday). Did you get that video I PM'd you ages ago of the Mr Oizo cover? Had me in stitches. Loved the original too when it came out.

Cosmic sold me his Monotribe but I've yet to have a serious play with it. You're right though, very much worlds apart. It's nice having a genuine analogue back in the studio, but I want to go the whole hog and get the Tempest.

The bass sounds really fat and some of the little background sounds in those videos would be amazing once processed up. It's easy to forget that there's no reverb or additional effects processing in the Tempest other than a midi delay and analogue distortion and compressor. It's testament to how nice the raw sound is IMO, although it can start to sound messy when people start ****' with those sliders!


I don't remember seeing the Mr Oizo vid so you might as well drop it in here!

It'd be realllllllly hard for me to not get both the 'taur and 'brute...for cheaper than the tempest to boot. Then again, I need some hardware synths in my life.

The tempest definitely is an interesting piece...I'd like to get my hands on one and fart around for a bit before buying though.
