macro video

Two questions: Am I missing a way to have multiple button layouts? Shouldn't the 2500's q3 and q4 be available as virtual controls on the 1k?

I've been experimenting with Logic's "Touch Tracks" and they work pretty well.

Another thing I've tried is looping MIDI tracks and muting/unmuting them.

Also, I've been playing around with setting different commands up at different transpositions and then just transposing the MIDI sequence. I'm playing around with this in Numerology with the Launchpad and I feel like that integrates with the MPC creative process well.

I'd like to come up with some generative macros that that keep chopping, rearranging and mixing down the tracks that I can let run.

downloaded max. it's about time i learn it, anyway...would truly like to become adept at C++ enough to make VSTs...someday maybe. ugh. at least i have hours and hours of time at work in which to do this.

food eater - multiple layouts? don't understand that part...q3 and 4 are not available, but i agree that they could be conceptually. but i am all about CCs instead of qlinks for the most part (excluding sample start! awesome)

definitely doable. you'd have to program them to run slowly enough that you can stop them.

one thing i would absolutely caution people from doing is making macros that save and/or load anything. DO NOT DO THIS. don't even allow your macros to enter SAVE/LOAD for any reason, whatsoever. why? because sometimes you trigger macros from the wrong screen, and suddenly your MPC receives like 20+ button messages that can seriously **** up your sequence. now throw load/save into the mix - you could very easily end up deleting your work or saving over other songs.

by keepign save/load 100% manual, you can avoid this issue.

Nice work Nym! Looking forward to seeing this project advance into the handheld wifi realm for ultimate portability.

maybe a program thats all controllable on a netbook would be cool too.

Hi, long time lurker here, just had to jump in and necromance this thread when I found it because you guys might like this.
I've been doing this macro flex with Pure Data and an old ebayed point-of-sale touchscreen sat behind my MPC so I can lay out buttons for my macros. Even just having dedicated mode buttons saves me literally hundreds of button presses a day.
Its f-ing fantastic fun and I can also do loads of other stuff like whip a sample in to PD via spdif for some mangling and I also use it with Expert Sleepers hardware as a Midi to CV for sequencing my modest collection of modular analog filters and doohickeys. And all this largely in one super customisable interface.

In conclusion: MPC 1000 + JJOS+ Pure Data = your own personal workflow orgy.

i'm still around. the vids still exist, but i'd rather upload them on a different channel than my music one. if someone else has a channel they'd like to host them on, let me know.

all of the vids are just snapshots of certain workflows given the current environment. many aren't really relevant anymore and aren't really something i want to be search-tied to anymore. building mystique, all that hocus pocus nonsense.

i'm still using the mpc as a drumkit sampler. i've got dozens of chopped break pgms in that thing that i bring out for different songs. recording spdif output, no midi. to date, jjos is the nicest oneshot sampler i've encountered.

someday i'll incorporate the mpc into bidule, which is my main powerhouse these days.

I understand your point of view concerning the videos.

But for instance you're quoted in JJ OS chopping bible with your Divide&Conquer trick. There's the link of the video in the tutorial. I don't know but maybe mpc-tutor could put this one on his youtube channel. Otherwise to be honest I don't remember how many videos you took but I'm sure some of them are still interesting (like how to build an instrument program..etc).

Anyway I respect your choice if you don't want to be associated with this anymore.
