yo,
got some problems playin my mpc1000.

on some projects, the sound changes during i play the loop.
i got a loop with 4 bars runnin. lets say the loop ran 2 times thru, the sound changes.
noise is like the loop lost some high freq's. After some secondes the sound changes back to normal.

pretty hard 2 tell, cuz my english is not the best

1. sound changes to less high freq
2. sound changes not always on the same, its total different
3. sound changes only on the begin of the loop

if u guys dont understand what iam talkin bout, i'll post a example up in here

any ideas what i did wrong?

yes bro, sounds exact the way it should.

idk, maybe its about i layerd the sample. first layer is the sample clean, seconde layer of the sample is: low pass and eq with less mid and heights.

but even if, i dont understand y it changes every once in a while. its like someone sittin in another room and fade down/up the high tunes, while filmin me for candid camera.

That is strange indeed, I would say check your monitors make sure they are connected correctly. If you running them off a mixer you might want to check that too.
Another thing, I'm not too familiar with the MPC1000 but I believe it has an automation feature. You might want to look into that as well. (I'm thinking that might be the problem)

yeh thats what i thought 2, but couldn't find something bout automation in manual.
the sound changes also when i record it down 2 the pc, no mixer connected.

here just a xample, dont goof on that - i am not familiar makin beats

u can hear on 00:10 the beat flats down and come back at about 00:47, goes down on sec 00:59, comes back at 1:24 and holds till 1:56. no system behind that.

i dont know how to embed that, so here a link:

Hmmm hard to say but, I'm guessing here that could be some phasing-going on due to poly play... make sure you don't have the main melody sample playing over itself (double-triggering). Mono your program play.

Try to re-record the sample play on a separate sequence and see if it happens again. Did you try to listen to it on solo? Happens still?

Edit: scratch that, doesn't sound like that.. Do you have layers of the main melody sample? or is it just one sample looping?

Edit edit: now that I read your description properly it could be it, turn off eq and filters for a sec and see if that helps... and only have one layer playing at a time.

Be careful when layering identical samples (no filtering, fxing, eqing etc.). They might behave in a frequency boosting way (sound louder) or frequency cutting way (sound quieter or parts are missing) depending on trigger-offset in relation to each sample layer.

you layered the sample with itself? that's definitely your problem. the mpc is not sample accurate so you're getting phase cancellations.

^^ just what I was guessing.. I had a similar problem recently..

Nym, how would you go around solving the problem?

What I did was; I turned a stereo sample into two mono samples ( coz there was diffrent bass on one side and other side had the better drumsound)
So I had 'em playin together  phasing..
I tryed using filters, since I mainley wanted the Lows from one side and used a Hipass on the other one.. helped a little but not really that satisfactory..

What would you do? (with no extra soft-/hardware, just inside the MPC)?

Thanks

PS.: no thread highjacking intended, just thought this might help us all..

oof your situation is hard if you're not using a DAW. i don't know how i would work around that. maybe using audio tracks? even then i don't think it's sample accurate. sorry i don't have a better idea. in general layering a sound with itself in the MPC is asking for trouble.

i guess your sample has a lot of bleed from the other channel, huh? that's where you're getting phasing...

huwm, yeh.

pad 1 sample clean
pad 2 sample with lowpass/low tune eq/compressor (same sample, start / ends on the same time)

if thats the problem, y does the sound changes that infrequent? shouldn't it be sound the whole time fk/d up?

did that way several times on other beats, worked always fine. dang, whats the clue to get the bassline seperated?

It what just like that, when I had the same problem.. Prolly the inacuracys are just ... infrequent??
You know what I mean? like they're not in time.. or synced.. with ur beat..??

just guessin'.. :?
