multiple issues on my 2500

hi folks,
I've switched on my 2500 (usually running jj free 3.09 os but sometimes switching to the original Akai 1.24) after three months and during this period of inactivity, something went wrong with this baby.

1)Pad number 11 seems damaged ( I press it and it usually trig randomly pads 10 or 12, then it works fine for a second, then again goes randomly to 10 and 12)

2) I can't select anymore the "midi" instead of "drums" on any single trak. The jog wheeel doesn't affect the choice, it always stays on "drum"

3) "16 levels" doesn't work at all." full level" works and the button goes red, but "16 levels" doesn't even light the button...

That's it... I've already tried the following operation: opening the case ( following the video tutorial on Youtube) and clean the pad sensor...Nothing... Reinstalling the original Akai os, then upgrading to jj os free3.09 to 3.10... Nothing.

Since the problems are resulting the same with both Akai and jj os, It seems to me that this could be one or several hardware problems...

Any ideas on what is going wrong with my beloved 2500?
Any similar experiences out there?

damn got no clue what went wrong but it dont look good... I got a question why would you switch back and forth between OS's ?? because I cant think of a reason....

have you tried resetting ram ?

I used to switch between original and jj just beacuse I wanted to handle both in an easy way... learning both inside out, so if a problem started with the original I could use th jj and vice versa... Just cause I'm a maniac in some way, nothing special...
But to be honest, I don't have enough time to spend on machines anymore, so I was ready to purchase the full jj and the stick with it forever... That's why I am so angry about this issues, now I have a lil' more free time and I can't use th mpc cause it's broken... damn!

oh, and by the way what do you mean with "resetting ram"?
I've the original 128 ram expansion from Akai... you mean disconnect-clean the contacts-reconnect?
In that case I didn't do it beacuse the sampler is working ( apart from the issues I've described) and is "stable"... no strange things on screen or sudden reboot or stuff like that...

sometimes taking out the ram and putting back in solves strange problems with mpc...so I think it's worth a try...if not then take it apart and insepct it carefully, make sure all connectors are tight..only other thing comes to mind is flash memory got corrupted when swtiching back and forth between OS's, but I do not recall of this ever happening to anybody so Im not sure if it's even possible...is your mpc still under warranty ?

yes, I always suggest disconnecting and reconnecting every connector inside the mpc when odd stuff happens... because connectors do creep loose over time even when machines have been sitting around... this is not abnormal at all.

The sampler is now in a specialised Akai assistance center...
Funny thing is that I'm using my multiple owner/ 25 years old mpc60 and it works so fine it makes me want to go to Numark headquarter and throw the 2500 on their windows...

i think you got it in the right hands

i was gonna say that the tact switch for the 16 levels button is probably broken, ordering a new one would probably fix the problem with that, but the guy that you took it to to repair it is probably doing that to it anyway.
