Many people have posted on the forums with problems loading .wav files on the MPC. A variety of reasons have been discussed such as the files needing to be 16 bit, 44.1KHz, shouldn't contain more than 16 characters (especially when those first 16 characters are the same), and even some talk of directory structure coming over from a pc being a problem (I'm not sure if that is even true, doesn't seem to be for me)
Bottom line is that I have noticed that .wav files that contain the "MIDI properties" of "bass note", "low note", and "high note" do not show up on the 2500 on jjos 3.11. MIDI properties are similar to metadata in that they store extra information about the file, only problem is the MPC seems to not be able to load these files. (Maybe it can, but every file that I've tried fails.)
I view this information with the program "Sample Manager" on 10.6.8. Only problem is the program lets you alter the MIDI properties but not ditch them altogether. The program "Switch" s much more limited but strips the MIDI Properties altogether. It actually works much faster and seems to be less buggy - I would use it except for the fact that it gets confused dealing with a batch of files that contains both stereo and mono files. It tends to make them all stereo, or acts generally unreliable in this departement.
Has anyone else noticed this issue with MIDI properties and does anyone have a good solution? I only have a Mac, I know that there are tons of great batch editors for the PC, but I want one for OSX. I'm about to just do some batch editing in the pro tools workspace in a second if I can't figure this one out. Thoughts or comments?
