Just picked up Croup's drums, highly recommended if you want that boom-bat feel.

Drums Overkill still holds up pretty well. Deadly Drums 1 and 2 are quite good. I'd also wholeheartedly recommend anything GoldBaby does. I feel some of the other posters on chopped drums being superior, but I always end comping those with libraries anyway. As long as a sample has the character or frequencies I need for the comping It doesn't matter to me about the origin of the sound.

Again on the GoldBaby thing he specializes in running old school boxes through high quality analog gear. Hugo (GoldBaby) actually took apart a DMX drum machine and made new EPROMS with 808 and other sounds and then recorded that through his favored outboard stuff. He's on the same wavelength as many of us on this forum as far as how drums should sound. So his stuff is actually an excellent complement to sampled drums as his recordings of the classic machines are high quality but also have a particular character and grit that I know cats here would appreciate.

Check him out here - http://goldbaby.co.nz/

Tons of freebies on the site, prices are reasonable and no I don't even know Hugo
Just giving the man his just do, and again I think guys here would would really like his sounds.

+1 for goldbaby. i got their analog 808 library, its pretty filthy.

do you use deadly drums from croup, or the other ones? i think there is two different companies that make deadly drum series.

ive been researching these for awhile, i have vol.1 and vol.2, but i dont think i have the croup version, i got em from my homie when we traded drums, then later on i bought filthy drums, i want to cop the croup deadly drums, but i have to find out for sure first.

yeh dropped by goldbabys when i made the other purchases, looked good and a few guys i know who mess with dancier tunes rate his 808 kit/

filthy drums vol1 and both the deadly drums, though i havnt been using the deadly drums much since getting the other packs

i only use em for layering breaks anyway. though, some of these deadly drums are nasty enough to be solid kits on there own!

Yeah I'm looking at his latest Urban Cookbook set. It's dope that he put same bass tones and one shots in there. Sets like that remind me of an old E-MU module with the variety of sounds.

It's not really the kind of wav libraries we're discussing here but the MOTU/UVI stuff is dope as hell. The BPM library is 24bit/96khz and sounds great. Sometimes I think it's only people with MPC 4000's that realize 24/96 doesn't necessarily mean ultra pristine. It's just more headroom to operate within. So you can have grit but with more clarity and definition. Similar to how you notice a huge difference in stereo separation and soundfield placement going from a $200 interface to a $1200 one.

The MOTU/UVI/USB stuff needs Mach 5 to fully edit and BPM to get the sounds on 16 pads. But there is the free UVI workstation VST/AU that will load all the libraries.

It's an undocumented thing but any single hits from these libraries as well as the WAV and REX loops can be dragged right to the desktop from the folder in the Mach 5/BPM/UVI Workstation browser. Of course it took me about 2 days.
Totally bizarre that I can do this on an encrypted library that requires one of 3 specific plugins to run.
