i feel that mixing is more of a creative process than just what you can do in the mpc, although it could also be a cool artistic choice to lo-fi your mixes by limiting what fx and such you use by limiting yourself to only using your mp.

although the majority of the time, i think you do need to multitrack your beats if your planning on releasing them commercially ever, theres just so much of the mix stage that would be ignored if you didnt track it out.

YES! What a film. During my Wing Chun days it was homework for us to watch it. Apparently the part with the bullet and the gun chamber is real

I think the most inspiring thing about Ip Man for me during that time was his size. He was a tiny bloke, yet so powerful. Being a string bean myself I can admire that a lot.

We've really ruined this thread.

Wing Chun was developed by a woman (If memory serves me right, I think her name was Wing Chun) so it suits string beans/short arses like you and I.

It would be impossible to ruin a thread like this with some of the 'advice' being offered! Not only that, but Kung Fu offers some really nice parallels to making music and the mind state of those that pursue it.

In general the '2 track crew' are happy to pull a few moves to get by in the street... If you've got a killer right hand why bother to develop the left? Give the average 2 track Hip Hopper a bag of vinyl and it's like arming an idiot with a stick. Take the stick away and you're just left with an idiot!

For those of us who are striving for a deeper understanding and more rounded fighting style, it becomes pretty obvious that there's a whole range of techniques to perfect before you can even consider yourself competent. This is assuming you want to dish out punishment on your own? The 2 track idiot with a stick may have a mastering engineer mate with an amazing round house kick, so there's no need for him to practice those moves. That's cool, but relying on some backup isn't the true essence of Martial Arts or making music.

The guy with a big right hand can't consider himself a fighter any more than a 2 track Hip Hopper thinks of himself as a beat maker/producer.
