combo s950 & mpc 60 question about sound out

i was just wondering, i use the mpc 60 now for triggering the S950 via midi cable (since this week i have this combination)
(mpc midi out / S950 midi in)

the S950 mix out is goin to my KRK monitors. it works fine with my first S950 samples, triggered with the mpc.

but when i decide to sample things on the mpc self, and they are then internal drum sounds, do they also play via the s950 to my monitors, or do i have to use the mix out from the mpc ?

Sounds in the MPC60 (drum track with samples recorded/copied to the 60) will come out of the stereo outputs of the MPC. Same goes for the S950, sounds stored in the S950 will come out of the mix output.

Basically, what you need is a mixing board.

You want to connect the individual outputs of the MPC60 and the S950 to the mixing board, then assign pads/keygroups from the 60/950 to the individual outs. Your monitors should be connected to the Stereo Outs of the mixing board.

Let me correct this a little... you could also use an audio interface with enough inputs to connect both machines and then mix the tracks with your software of choice on the computer...

In the end it depends on your preferences, if you like mixing in software, an audio interface with enough inputs is all you need. On the other hand, if you like the idea of actual hardware, turning knobs, pushing faders, etc... you might be more happy with a real mixing board. There's also mixing boards which have built in USB/firewire connection and can be used as an audio interface for a computer as well.

I didn't notice this, but i can't say i have a lot of experience yet with the S950. However, the individual outs have a stronger signal compared to the mix out.

If you use the mono outs on the s950, and your mpc60 isn't OS 3.01 (like mine), you can use the S950 for mono-"sound-stuttering"... this was the only and main reason I want to upgrade to 3.01 (don't really care about longer than 5sec sampling, 4 banks, etc)...but got a maxed out S950 instead for the same price as the OS.. def the way to go... way more sampling features, keyboard spread, sound stuttering and 2.25kb extra ram..totally beats OS upgrade
