The sh!t didn't change how we make music (as MPC lovers) at all . All it did was take what we loved about the MPC (a simple, all in the box solution) and add the same ball & chain Maschine has (a fckin' computer) for some "cool" features to compete w/ the competition .

I call bullsh!t .

however, if ARK is right about it being standalone too... and akai actually pulls off writing software that functions.... than maybe it will be neat..

bold statements about how people make music.. well I saw them hitting pads, nothing new there.

Highly doubt this will compete with the Maschine price wise.

The Maschine controller is cheaply made and a lot smaller than this though. I'm guessing this will be a pricey controller either way.

I know most of us don't want to have to turn on our fckin' computer every time we make a beat (or at least I don't) .

I dont know how twitter really works since I never use it so I dont know who was saying this to who.. but on akai's page it says this:

Akai_Pro Akai Professional
RT @simonbangs: The #AkaiProMPC Runs standalone and as VST, AU or RTAS plug-in's right out the gate! @Akai_Pro

so, maybe that is akai saying that to somebody else?

It is a new MPC without many of the limitations of legacy MPCs...seamlessly integrated with your PC/Mac. It's poised to make Maschine look like a thing of the past.

But the MPC 2500 is the stand alone son....

WTF??? It's not enough that the MPC is able to track out to the person's DAW of choice but that Akai had to create a hybrid MPC mixed with beat kangz just to use with its own in house software? And wtf can the software do that tracking out to Pro Tools cannot do?

Wow.... Akai straight baiting ****** who don't know nothing about equipment....

I am curious to see how this works exactly without the bundled software...

I think it's safe to assume the software runs in standalone and not the MPC.

you know it's gonna be expensive.. they added combo looking jacks on it which suggests an interface... that equals at least 200 bucks on top of the mpd32.. so we know it's a minimum of 550, then you got the midi outputs.. so that means at least 50-100 bucks.. and the software will be probably 350 which often vsts go for.. plus the vintage mode which you could add at least 50 bucks for each mpc model they emulated..

so far with just that estimate we're at $1100...

and @Coz, yes very true.. good point.
