2 LPD8s combined in Reason 6

I'm wondering how well both would work for Kong. 16 pads and 16 knobs controlling Kong may be ideal with 2 LPD8s for the price as well as saving space. I might have to buy 2 and experiment. If it don't work out, I'll return them and buy another MPD (I bought an MPD18 recently and returned it since I still have my MPC1000 as a pad controller). The MPD32 is still more ideal in every way, shape or form. Maybe we'll see a price drop now that the MPC Renaissance is out. But that's in a league of it's own, so we'll see.

i actually didnt like the lpd 8 when i had it, switching banks too k like 2 or 3 buttons to do, so for live playing, or live jamming in your room even, it was pretty useless.

i would just get a mpd 18 for that.

Thanks for the heads up Damien. I bought an MPD18 2 months ago and returned it because I still have the 1k. I like the MPD18. It's nice and compact. I need full size pads. Even after 7+ years with the 1k and the Fat Pads, I still feel cramped. I'm using Reason 6 a lot more than my MPC, and that makes me question whether to sell it or not. But owning an MPC is like owning a guitar or a set of Technics 1200's..... I can't part with either of them. However, if I sell my 1k and my Axiom 49, then I'd have the money for an MPD32 and a Novation SL 25 MK2. I've been thinking about this for a few months now. I really won't miss the Axiom 49, and i can always buy another 1k that needs repair for cheap at another time if I miss it enough.

you know how the mpd 18 cycles thorugh a, b and c with the touch of 1 button?

well on the lpd, you have to push the pad button, then 1 of 4 pads will light up, then you push the actual pad itself, then you have to push the pad button again to exit out of the "bank select mode" you may have to push the program button to confirm this too, i dont really remember. but i do know it was about impossible to stay on time during a jam session and switch banks at the same time which really disappointed me.

yeah i can see not wanting to sell your 1k, i think if you got an mpd 18 again, getting the fat pads for it would be dope, i know thats what i wana do to mine.

you can find mpd's very cheap on craigslist from time to time.

ive seen the mpd 26 for 150 before and i got my mpd 18 (well my girlfriend got it for me for Christmas) for 50 on craigslist.
i think ive seen mpd 32s for around 200-250 ish as well.

Considering Akai and Nektar are only making keyboard controllers with 12 pads, I think I might keep the Axiom 49 still, and then just snatch up another MPD18 and a set of Fat Pads. It's still small enough to sit comfortably in reach next to the Axiom 49. So I'm done drooling over all this new shit until I see the perfect all in one controller (with 16 full size pads), especially for the prices they're going these days.

you can find the mpd 18s for cheap too. i got mine for 50 on craigslist.
