so do you think the backwards compatibility will be full?

for example, do you think youll be able to load up a project file, and your whole sequence, alternate loops, ndc chops, ect. will translate over with the project file you load up?

i could see myself using the mpc as more of a scratch pad and using this to finish off my beats if that were the case.

this will be SUPER badass, im really hoping for this full backwards compatibility thing!

Its advertised to support samples and sequences. It doesn't mention anything about programs, AKP files, and projects. I agree supporting these formats would be a huge selling point. And I seriously doubt that it will ever have completely compatibility with JJ OS created projects.

Personally, I would love to see 5 different MPC plugins. Plugins that when inserted into your DAW, would import any project, song, sequence, program, etc from legacy MPCs and playback immediately. No more multitrack recording...no more MIDI sync.

That's how this group bonds, over inside jokes, and mockery of others on the outside. Akai doesn't even exist anymore, and this forum is for people, who happen to have the MPC as a part of their culture. It's not the official Akai fan club, so even Akai is open for attack from the group.

When people do things easy to mock, like Beat Kangz, and this new Akai, they can't help but have fun attacking, and bonding together over it. It's all out of love, just love for the fellow forum member, not Akai or the official Akai fan club.

I read the MPC Ren threads on other sites, and some places had positive opinion, or at least neutral and ready to wait and see. But people here tend to be more like the hooligans in the back of the room. It's not an Akai official site, so it's okay.

Interesting thanks. So instead of loving fellow forum members, you love a brand. It's not a tool for you, it's a fetish. I can see how that could happen. People do it with different things, like guitars and bands. I've seen lots with Fender Strat fetishes, or cult synths.

So if I love a particular item that you hate...I can't be in your circle? If that is the case, I don't need friends like that. And quite a few forum members have banned together for their anti-Akai cult..not interested in that. As I stated before, this is a less prrofessional bunch. You are chasing away membership. If that is your goal...okay. But it has nothing to do with love and respect.

MPC 2000 was the first highend piece of studio gear I purchased back in 1997. I have been in love with MPCs ever since.

yeah the 5 plugins would be pretty sweet.

i was also wondering about how viable the jjos compatibility would be, i guess well see when they show it at namm, its a feature that could be very beneficial to us as previous mpc owners, and i would go so far as to say i wouldent even be that unhappy if it didnt work in standalone mode if it had this capability.

i think this new mpc can fill the void that i had (and still do) when i was asking about a standalone sequencer on gearslutz and you took it upon yourself to troll the thread forever

what a dick

oh yeah i did contact that company and they said they were too small to make a machine like i was proposing.

/end derail

You just didn't want to hear the truth. No company is going to make a hardware sequencer like the one you described. Akai stopped making them in the 80s and Roland stopped in the early 90s. Yamaha stopped making them mid 90s I believe as well.

The problem is that you're getting sour when people don't agree with your opinions on a product that you've not seen in the flesh either. Then instead of discussing very legitimate observations people have made in a mature way, you tell them they're hating on Akai.

That's the type of behaviour that throws the harmony of this place. You don't think 99% of people are here because they love Akai too? And in fact love their products so much that they have continued to use them, upgrade and repair them indefinitely? Those are the true individuals. Anybody who joins this forum is usually given a fair go, the only time people get chased away is when they're blatant trolls or too lazy to use google.

Just because people are judging a product based on their own requirements doesn't make their arguments and reasons for not being excited any less valid than yours for wanting to believe this is Akai's saving grace.

The only harmony that I have disrupted is the "I hate Akai cult" and of course some of the threads about the Maschine (when I am the olny one telling the truth :P)

I have never gotten sour if people don't agree with me. Very rarely are things dicussed in a mature way when it comes to Akai. If you say fuc Nu Akai in every single thread...that is called hating. My point is...when do you get tired and move on? When does filling every thread about how much you hate Akai becomes trolling? Some forum members have more posts saying they hate Akai then anything else.

Re-read my comments in this forum. And then re-read some of yours and your cohorts. You will clearly see you gentleman have so much negativity in most of your posts. That is not a good look. And this is what disrupts harmony.

So again....I get it. I know what you like and dislike. But when the MPC Ren is released, would a brand new forum member want to see useful and helpful threads on how to get the most out of the Ren....or would he/she get flooded by hundreds of posts from non-MPC Ren users regarding negativity? Some of you did this to the MPC 5000 Forum. And even done it to the MPC 2500 forum prior to the JJ OS release for it.

Again...when is it time to move on from all the hate?

Jamon wrote:Skepticism can be healthy. Their words may sound harsh, but they're just challenging proponents to convince them. Is blindly hating something worse than blindly loving it?

Hate will always be worst.....haven't you been taught that if you don't have nothing nice to say....then don't say it? In the real-world (meaning outside of these forums), negative people are not well liked.

Anyway...I gave you guys enough attention. It's time to go back to the positive aspects of a new MPC integrated in a computer environment!

@JAH probably aimed towards me a little I feel. But, I put a lot of interesting points across in the beginning threads on here and you blatently slated me when a lot of people actually found them interesting. Obviously, I bite the bate and we had a little fumble.

But, the above is true. It's the nature in the forums. I've been terrorised on here in the past for views that didn't swing other peoples way. It's a brutal forum if you rub people up the wrong way and you sink or swim in the debates.

Either way, there's no hate towards you personally, and non to your views. But rubbing people up the wrong way will result in a clash. I learnt that a while ago.

I'm open to a lot of what you said. And I hope it's vice versa, otherwise it's ignorance.

The truth is we only know the information we have been given and everything else is speculation and guess work.

Ended up in an cafe. Got lost in Bath Spa thought I'd come see how the discussion is going :p

Yeah its pretty cool indeed.

My only main gripe is not having 8 outs. I actually been wanting something like this for a long time. Not perfect but i'll take this over a maschine or ableton any day. MPC500 and this would be a perfect combo.

Since the software resides on PC/Mac, it eliminates the need for me to have so many outputs. How would you use the additional outputs?

jah, for one of the biggest so called mpc fans... how come you never keep any of them? it seems like you are always selling your gear instead of actually keeping it...

Furthermore, anything other than pure endorsement will sound like hating to someone who is caught up in corporate loyalty.. you yourself have said on many occasions that no matter what, if akai releases a new mpc this year you are buying it... and that is before even knowing what they would release....

so I expect you will buy and permanently keep all 3 of the new models before even trying them out since you owe it to your deity... or will you be showing a lack of appreciation and akai support by getting rid of the units shortly after?

Just kidding around.. I bet you have to be super selective with the limited space over in that part of the world.

It will be interesting to see how stable the program runs...

To be honest, I've just bought an MPC1000 with JJOS at Christmas, and im not bitter about a new product being released, Its good to see, as it means the MPC line isn't about to be die!

I've read loads of articles on how maschine is better workflow than an MPC, and how its a game changer, we it looks like Akai have took that into account, and added the audio interface of what the standalone MPC would have, it makes sense to use a connect OS, as its just an upgrade from it being inside the box. Most people would have an internet browser open or have to re-sample wavs to get them onto their standalone MPC anyway, so if they better on the maschines feature set, such as timestretch, and take some of the added workflows ideas from JJOS, then they will be set. Then it will be all about the software as in the end this will sell the product. We are more likely to see updates to the software because this will fit the host OS not the interface. So it is more likely you will see support for legacy controllers if the Ren line takes off.

It will be a while before I buy one, as I have just bought an MPC1000, but this is standalone and portable, but when a Ren becomes cheap enough and software proved stable, i will buy one for sure, its a great move for Akai, and its good to have a competitor for maschine, as it brings the prices down, which we all want.

Just my opinion....

Yet again your reaction to an opinion that isn't inline with yours is to right it off as negativity and hate. The fact is most people who are apparently hating on this product are making valid points, based on the information that Akai themselves are handing out.

You're just persistently going on about how awful we're all being to poor little Akai and their new product. Yet with that tunnel vision you've completely ignored the fact that Akai have been very happy to take customers hard-earned and then fail to follow through with any real support. That is appauling, and if it wasn't for forum members like JJ and Tutor respectively working their arses off, Akai would have been floored a long time ago.

New members are helped on these boards day in day out, irrespective of what they own. In fact there is often great advice from various members regarding all sorts of equipment.

So lets be honest there's no real hate here at all. Like I said before people are here keeping Akai alive through their own passion, and if you deny that then you obviously have no idea what certain members of this forum contribute.
