Interesting.

Jah, do you have a Tenori-on I could buy off you? I want one and James Jeffrey is a slag and won't sell me his, despite the fact he hates it and himself for buying one and not using it.

James if you're reading this don't be a hoarder. I know you'll be getting some more things this year that I'm jealous of and that sickens me. I will give you a lock of Skrillex hair if this helps change your mind.

Yet again your reaction to an opinion that isn't inline with yours is to right it off as negativity and hate. The fact is most people who are apparently hating on this product are making valid points, based on the information that Akai themselves are handing out.

You're just persistently going on about how awful we're all being to poor little Akai and their new product. Yet with that tunnel vision you've completely ignored the fact that Akai have been very happy to take customers hard-earned and then fail to follow through with any real support. That is appauling, and if it wasn't for forum members like JJ and Tutor respectively working their arses off, Akai would have been floored a long time ago.

New members are helped on these boards day in day out, irrespective of what they own. In fact there is often great advice from various members regarding all sorts of equipment.

So lets be honest there's no real hate here at all. Like I said before people are here keeping Akai alive through their own passion, and if you deny that then you obviously have no idea what certain members of this forum contribute.

You can spin it any way you want to...but negativity is negativity. And you honestly say you are not tired of it? Really?

Please direct me to the valid points you speak of because I have obviously missed them. I see the same 5-6 individuals posting the exact same thing in every thread...multiple times. You don't think it is weird for individuals to spend hours out of their day talking about a product and a company they hate?

But I stand by everything I said. This forum was much better 7-8 years ago. By the way...I can't agree or deny if certain individuals are actually helping forum members because I added them to my foe list to ingnore their posts (and just added a few more).

Who is still using tape?

One way or another, we cannot avoid having to rely on a computer. Based on who serious you're doing music.

Besides the limitations of hardware (limitations are not always a bad thing off course), it's also a practical thing why most people use computers more and more for more different types of processes in music production.

E.g.: Sometimes I work with a digital sample. Vinyl recording, cd-rip whatever. I sample it in my computer and send it to the mpc. Chop and sequence it inside the mp, make sure things will sound as one piece by setting filter and volume settings, etc. Then record it into my DAW, Have to set up my mixer, levels and shit, After that mix it down again.

With something like the Ren you can cut out that whole process. Samples and beats and recordings on one disk. One disk to back up. No hussle with wires. Saves a lot of time too. No loss off signal quality during recording.

For now I'll stick to what I have. But I can really see me working with something similair like the Ren over 5 years from now

No... opinions are opinions. And I respect the fact that there will rarely be a generally agreed consensus on this board or anywhere in life. Tired of negativity? Jah do you even read my replies?

Jesus, yet again... opinions and hate. Check out people like Metatron. He has valid, well thought out and fair opinions, but you'd read them and decide he was negative and hate-filled just because he has made an informed decision based on Akai's own press that simply doesn't follow your personal logic.

If it was better 7-8 years ago, then leave. You clearly don't contribute anything other than tired rhetoric about how we all hate Akai.

Personally, I think it's stranger that you have such an affinity with this product and company for no apparent reason, than other's disliking it/them for valid reasons.

Im not expecting anything from Akai.

This is how I feel about it...
Took this from a discussion I was having with some friends on Facebook some of which are forum members...

"So Nukai announced its "new" so called MPC and Im seriously insulted... Just everything about it makes me cringe. The marketing, the name, the design, and the idea calling it a MPC yet they changed its title to Music Production Controller??? A MPC is a Music Production Center NOT Controller!!! Ugh..."

A few comments later...

"Well from my main wall post thats exactly how I feel. In the end all I really care about is functionality. So even if its a damn ugly looking thing it boils down to the software, where it truly matters. If for some miracle reason Nukai happens to make a product that is good (Keep in mind they have never done this), then this will be worth it and Id buy it."

So in the end Im just waiting on the software... It looks ugly but I can fix that. I customed my 2500 so Im sure I could do the same to this ugly machine.

This about sums it up for me too. But it will have to be pretty damn mind-blowing and I'm not all that hopeful at this point.

New to the discussion, but I wanted to add my 2 cents. I think this new product by AKAI is obviously coming from the fact that they realize that there are more computers in people's homes and offices now than ever. People are used to using them and are using them more and more for music production.

I think that true MPC enthusiasts are dwindling in numbers because more people are using computers to do their work.

The MPC is just another type of computer anyway. It is made up of hardware and an operating system.

Laptop and desktop computers are just cheaper and greater in numbers. Software development on a PC or MAC is just easier.

Other companies get this and now I think AKAI is just following suit. I think they have finally admitted to themselves that they are crappy at making software for their own hardware. Also, it's much easier to extend functionality in software than in hardware.

It's good and bad depending on how you look at it. Good in the sense that if they do it right (which who knows if they will), they will be able to dominate the industry again. There is opportunity there, but I'm not sure if they see it. It's bad because those of us that enjoy the all-in-one production unit are stuck with older models that ended up being abandoned by the makers.
