SCSI CD ROM question

hi guys, quick question about using scsi CD ROM with mpc 2k XL.
Pardon my ignorance but i never worked with SCSI until now... I'd like to know if the CD ROM is hot swappable
or I have to switch the sampler off when I want to change the CD. Silly question? maybe but please cope with my ignorance. I'm not in front of it right now so I can't try it.
waiting for the multicard reader to be delivered I'll be using the SCSI CD rom to load samples -I'm burning some stuff form my sample collection to use with MPC.
I received 2 days ago, it's still at home so I just have the mpc (I'm rebuilding the studio so i don't have access to it at the moment) and I'm doing some stuff on the couch -really like the machine, being away from the computer is a good way to find new ways to develop musical ideas!

I dont believe CD roms have the issue of being non-hot swappable... worse comes to worse... you sample directly from your PC.

I was hoping the opposite... looks like there will be a lot of save-shutdown-changeCD-powerup-load-etc ect.

at least i have the cd rom, until I'll get my cf / sd drive it'll do

You can hot-swap CD discs without powering down.
I think what Lampdog means is you cannot unplug the SCSI cable without powering down first.

ahh the true sense of the term... that didn't cross my mine because I was thinking of the way it's referred when talking about cf cards.. haha..

yeah IMO, it may not be a great idea to even unplug/plug in the scsi cables from the mpc while it or the other device is even turned on...

I'm back to report.
I think I have to burn the CD with option ISO 9660 since the CD I burned with powerISO on my laptop (win 7) did not work. mpc reconnaised scsi ID 1 but instead of file name (all 8 characters) displayed XX::: or something like that. I know that the CD ROM works because the previous owner burned OS 1.20 and loaded it from CD -so it must be the CD.
I still haven't got time to try with a second CD, I'll do that soon.

Yeah that's what I meant. I figured everyone already knows you can open and close a cd tray at any time.

what is the price? a golden mpc?
