Unfortunately we have to pay import tax on everything that comes into the UK from outside the European Union. The other bonus of buying here is getting a standard 3 year warrantee on music gear. Not everywhere offers this, but it's becoming more common judging by my recent purchases.

Coz, you can actually sort of get around this sometimes by requesting that the parcel is labelled for "educational use". I'm sort of tempted by Jonestowns' idea, but I'll just be patient.

I believe Digital Village are now offering longer warrantys than that, sure it was 4 years last time I checked. That's astonishing really!

Prob not much synths out their easier to learn. I think it looks pretty great to me and the price is nice. Im not likely to go buy one right now because I have all kinds of moog action in my life already and taurus is not my favorite, but at some point down the line Ill likely pick one up. great idea for them, though.

I've had some things sail through customs with no problems, then I've been stung by other things. I think it was MPC Stuff that labelled one package as having a value of $15 when I'd actually spent $200!

It's just whether it's worth spending a few more quid to get the proper UK power adaptor and unbeatable 4 year protection.

Mate im still lusting after you know what-ion, and there's a white LED version on ebay right now... watching like a hawk. Buy it now £499 oddly enough too, exact same price. It seems life is tempting me every which way haha.

I'd probably go with the Tenori if I were you because it's quirky and would throw up more musical ideas than the Moog. That and the fact that you don't shut up about it!

You guys could also get someone overseas to buy it for you and ship it as a gift. Also, I get 1 year warranty, and can extend it up to 5 extra years (and the warranty covers EVERYTHING)

If there is that much price difference, I could cop 5 or 10 Minitaurs and set you UK cats up, with better pricing than your local retailers, and the same warranty, etc etc. You'd just have to ship it here if you needed a warranty repair, lol.

That's kind of you to offer Jones, but that's the real killer. I've still had things marked down as a gift that have been charged import taxes.

So if we had to pay to ship something, pay to ship it back for repair/trade in, pay to ship it back a second time AND get charged import taxes both ways it really starts to build up.

lol, no doubt! Ive never been chargerd when it has been labelled as a gift, but I had to pay the ups guy $75 at the door after already paying $100 for shipping on an asr10.

TBH, I dont think anything that Ive touched from Moog needed any sugar coatings. There gear pretty much speaks for itself. When I get my hands on the Minitaur, Ill do a side by side comparison (because my local MI store tried to low ball the **** out of me when I took it in, lol). Im defo selling the phatty for the minitaur, though.

On that note, I may have a slim phatty coming up for sale if anyone is interested....
