Heres some Tweets from Akai over at Twitter. Most interesting one for me is the first one.

Is it just a big controller (maschine style) or can it run on its own?

It is designed to run with our deeply integrated MPC software


Can the MPC Renaissance function as a standalone sampler as well (without the use of a computer)?

No but this is not a limitation in our view

yeah, I was going to mention that my self. They really need to have someone with more adult communicative abilities when dealing with a product launch. He/she writes like a teenage Skrillex fan adn I left out a lot of the garbage. (no offence to teenage Skrillex fans intended)

And you know what. It is decisions like putting a 15 year old in charge of the Tweets that STILL gives me concern about this company. I want Akai to do so well, but there is something cheap about how they operate on some levels. just my opinion of course.

I love this video. Looks like they were just having a good time. It grabs your attention. It has people talking...good or bad.

The only thing I would have changed is the song choice. I would have used a real track from one of their upcoming releases...as the song sounds like a commerical or the presets typically found loaded on workstations we buy.


Or I would have preferred them flippin a sample like the one found in this joint:

Don't you think this is in relation to the 2 "MPC's" that are yet to be unveiled?

Actually I dont think it is. Im surprised (very) that your the first one to pick up on it. I do believe it means future MPCs. I dont believe for one second Akai have stopped making dedicated hardware.
Chances of stand alone - software hybrid this year is high 8)
Something else few have commented on is the quality of the casing.
know what i mean...

You are speculating and wishing.

What you posted says nothing about relation.

Just wait until you read about or see the other ones coming. Until then you are just spinning your own wheels for nothing. Be realistic, try not to twist reality ya dig. Not coming at you I'm just saying in general, wait on it. Physically, wait on it.

I'm neither speculating or wishing. There's a countdown on 2 other MPC related products on the website, so it's safe to assume in the short term those will be the next products to be unveiled.

If anything, hoping they are going to announce a true standalone MPC is coming way out of left field IMO. You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to work out how all this is panning out!

A true MPC later in the year?? Who knows? Maybe...

Either way, playing the guessing game is all part of the fun, right? :wink:

You could tweak a preset to do that
